300 Blackout

Only down side I have seen is finding ammo... and when you do,you don't want to waste any... :D

At this time, it is pretty hard to come by (so is .22LR, lol). But if/when it all settles down and gets back to somewhat normal, the .300 BLK is fairly easy to find. My local Cabellas and Bass Pro carry it and its almost always on the shelf. A few of the LGS carry it as well, but the prices are a little higher.

The cheaper way to catch it is online. If you have a descent amount of rounds to get you by while ur waiting your next shipment........Of course u could always reload. .223 brass can be found all over the place, of course when things are back to normal. So in that case u have plenty of brass to reload for the .300 BLK in the future. Of course u have to neck down the .223 cases to work for the .300 (but the point is the brass is pretty limitless). It's a win/win situation no matter how you look at it, IMO.

IMO 300 Blk is the future of the AR platform. It's already catching on hard even in these times where it's hard to find ammo. People just want a larger round in their AR and the fact that you only have to change the barrel makes 300 Blk extremely desirable.

I've learned a lot here 300BlkTalk ? Index page great site with some very helpful people. Also, The Book of the AR just put out a magazine completely dedicated to the 300 Blackout and has reviews on just about every company making uppers, barrels and rifles, check that out if you can find it. They did do a review of the AAC uppers/rifles.

Most of all the companies that make uppers are all on backorder also. So if u find a .300 BLK upper on a shelf and u dont already have one. It may be a wise choice to scoop it up, that is if u ever plan on stepping up a bit. It's better than waiting on the backorders to get filled. And right now, i'm sure many people know how it feels to still be waiting on backorders (cough cough Magpul).

IMO, its a much better round than i anticipated. After spending some time with it and shooting it at different distance. You learn what u need to or need not to do when shooting it at closer and greater distances. Anything under 150 yards, its a pretty nasty weapon. The farther out u go the more changes u need to make for the drop in the bullet. This is where your practice comes in.

I could see building a CMMG lower to go with that upper...:D

Where would I find this "Book of AR magazine"?

Be careful tho if you have S & W 300 and blaspheme and say whisper in the forum you will have some real interesting comments about the whisper there. I tried to tell them that ssk and S &W are the only two companies authorized to make whisper chambers and the others arent real whispers. And wham there is a big argument

Whisper, Blackout, I don't care too much what you call the thing as long as I can call it mine. It's just a name, much like GMC and Chevy. Sorry GMC, it was staring me in the face. I have a Tahoe sitting outside.

Book of the AR is a quarterly magazine. Just do a search for Book of the AR 300 blackout and you should find it. I'm not sure if it would still be on a news stand or not.

Here are a few pics of my new purchase:

Say bye bye to the 5.56. You'll not need it anymore. That .300 is sexy sexy sexy sexy.

Very good looking rifle, I'd love to have the AAC Stamps on mine. And yeah, like he said, you won't be needing 5.56 anymore :) Gratz!

I don't know, I'm still shooting my 5.56 upper just as much as the 300. With the lack of .22lr to be found anywhere, the 5.56 upper has become my plinker and the 300 has slide into the spot between the 5.56 and the .270win bolt gun I have

That's good. I have looked at some youtube vids about the V-Max. Those things can do some serious damage to a watermelon.

You should what one does up close in CQB. It goes through barriers like a hot knife going through butter. It would be kind of hard to hide from one, thats for sure.

.300 Blackout

Just bought the .300 blackout. Is it a good gun? Went to the range to shoot it and used Federal AAC blackout ammo and first I shot the first round it got stuck in barrel. Is this normal? Is the stock barrel a good one?

I would like to give the V-max's a try. But finding them around here is not going very well. I'm having a devil of a time finding any thing in 300blk around here. The only factory ammo I have been able to get is UMC 115gr.
