Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread. I am now signed up as a Life Member. I first tried the standard number and gave up waiting after 30 minutes. I then used Gresham's pnone number and immediately got a live person who said that the NRA is offering a $300 life membership. I signed up without needing any referral in 60 seconds and am a happy camper!:D

CW, thanks for the offer and please disregard my PM, since everything worked out using Guntalk number.

Good deal Gary! Changing the OP as my mailbox is too small anyways ;)

NRA is extremely busy. It's already apparent from the call hold times, but the backlog manifested itself in my own transaction's processing delays.

I called for the life membership on the morning of January 11. The Amex charge did not show up until the evening of January 14. Usually, businesses process the transactions immediately, in real time. My updated life status did not show up on the NRA web site until January 15.

I was then able to activate the "no cost" $10,000.00 Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance coverage as well as the $2,500.00 ArmsCare coverage.

I'm surprised they charge extra (nominal fee) to add a digital version of a magazine. Not sure if that's in lieu of a print version, or if you get both, but the options don't appear to allow for both print and digital versions. I prefer to read books and magazine in print, anyway. I almost feel guilty about the lifetime magazine subscription, since I plan to live for at least 60 more years :) Perhaps a few decades from now, I can modify my choice to "no magazine."

I've updated my profile to reveal the NRA membership logo. It even shows up on all my pre-existing posts.

Thanks again, ladder13!

After 6 or 8 unsuccessful attempts last week trying the number Mike posted, I finally tried the number from GunTalk this morning and got right through!

Another new Life member and was happy to do it.

Thanks again Mike for getting this started :)

Just an update;
I received my member packet today. They originally said 4-6 weeks. Must be expeditin'!:D
