.32 acp fan

Big fan of them here...

A NAA Guardian is a standard EDC option.

It stablemates include a '61 blued PPK (JB special) and a late production S&W stainless PPK- both also carried.

I had a couple CZ-50's, but sold them to be replaced at some point by a CZ-70 with the improved slide metallurgy.

I usually shoot Fiocchi or S&B full performance / full OAL FMJ. The Guardian and older PPK will sometimes need a double tap on the hard Czech primers, however. Not a problem with the Italian primers.

I have a Mauser 1934 which runs flawlessly and is very accurate at 30'. Problem is, .32 ACP is ridiculously expensive. Some places asking $30/box. Unfortunately I will wait until prices soften.

Been waiting for better times to do some AR builds .....
That's not going to happen so I began the builds anticipating bad times. No point in waiting for a condition to arise that just isn't coming

I have an affection for the little .32acp. Does anyone else share this enthusiasm for the little cartridge.

I like it well enough, but only own one pistol chambered for it, a 1903 Pocket Hammerless Type IV made in 1944. I don't shoot it a lot, it was my stepdad's issue sidearm in WWII. It doesn't like anything but FMJ, JHP's don't feed well.

I also really like this little cartridge. I've got a Walther PP (1950's Manurhin), a Walther PPK (WW II German production), and a SIG P230 from the Japanese police contract. I mostly shoot the Manurhin PP, with reloads (either 71 grain Magtech FMJ's or Hornady 60 grain JHP's). It's a beautifully made pistol and is a pleasure to shoot. In spite of having "more effective" carry weapons, I sometimes carry the Manurhin with S&B ammo.

My only .32 is this high condition Remington Model 51. These are wonderful little guns and very comfortable in the hand.

That's a lovely little gun, very nice. I have a Remington 51 but mine is in 380 caliber (which is actually more common than the 32 caliber version). I keep looking for a 32 version to go with it but all I've found are either too rough or too expensive for my budget ( or both ) ............

Oh yes, I really enjoy the .32acp round and the pistols that firem them. I have accumulated 4 makes, the Remington 51 (1923) top left, the Colt 1903 (1913) top middle, the H&R Self Loading (1924) bottom right and the Savage (1917).
Actually the H&R is most accurate for me, I assume because of the larger revolver style front sight.

I have quite a few different 32 ACP's but here is my favorite.

A Colt 1903 General Officer's Pistol made by U.S. Armament finished in Royal Blue. The bluing is as nice as that on any Python I have seen.

At this point my favorite S&W handgun to fire the 32 ACP cartridge is my custom chambered 327 Fed Mag stainless K frame revolver. The 32 ACP round is semi-rimless of course, so it fires and extracts flawlessly.

I’ve had a couple of semi autos over the years chambered in 32 ACP, and really kinda liked my Browning 1922s, but I’ve just gotten too lazy to chase those tiny pieces of brass. ;)

Although I generally carry something a little bigger, I like my Beretta Tomcat…fun to shoot and respectable performance with Fiocchi FMJ for such a small package.

So which came first, the H&R Self Loading or the Nambu?

Whichever party came second appears to have been seriously inspired by number one. :)

In the Stopping Power books, the 32 ACP with FMJ was rated at 50%. This is the same as the 380 ACP FMJ and the 2 inch 38 Special with 158 gr LRN.

The WW Silvertip ammo raised the 32 ACP and the 380 ACP up to around 63%, IIRC.

So, the 32 ACP is nothing to sneeze at. I would use the S&B ammo at 1050 FPS.

Pretty tough to beat the little PPK when it comes to .32 caliber pistols. I've had my hands on a few through the years and when it comes to lightweight handguns I consider .380 the bottom and enjoy shooting my little 1908 Colt. A few years back I picked up my first .25 auto and think its pretty cute. An old timer I knew for years never left home without a .25 Browning in his pocket. Someone was giving him a hard time about carrying a little pipsqueak .25, ole Will smiled and grumbled "A .25 in my pocket beats a .45 in your safe."

When I do carry a .32 Auto I load it with Fiocchi 60gr SJHP ammo which is rated at 1100 fps. For practice the Fiocchi 73gr FMJ ammo is a good choice or even the 73gr FMJ offering from S&B.

A hundred years ago when I traded into a PPK/S in .32 because it was James Bond's pistol and the trade was in my favor. It had the mottled brown stocks and was in general good condition with Nazi marking, etc. I was a little curious about how effective it would be and went out in the back forty where there were some recent 6" cedar fence posts installed. There was a light skinned area on one of the posts, like an axe strike. I aimed at that from about ten yards and let fly a full magazine. I could tell I was hitting the post because stuff was flying off, I went out to check and found the nearly all shots had hit the center of the post where I was aiming and went clean through. I figured for what it lacked in knockdown it made up for with penetration and would certainly cause the target to leak out eventually.
