I just picked up a S&W 632 & was wondering if 32 acp ammo could be used in a pinch. It's .309 as opposed to the .312 of the rest of the 32 family so it is .003 undersized.Pressure should be OK and the base diameters of the 327 and 32acp are both .337. The only problem I see is the thickness of the acp's semi rim, .045 as opposed to .055 so the firing pin has to travel .010 further.
Just wondering...

I have a 432PD in .32H&R Magnum. I called the factory to ask if .32ACP could be used in the 432 and there response was that as long as it would chamber, it would be okay to use it.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck,

Dave

Many will say 'no', but it's perfectly safe. The .32 ACP is one of the few auto cartridges that has a slight rim. It will headspace fine. Bullet diameter is the same. Pressure is lower than the .32 H&R Mag or .327.

The .32 ACP uses a .312 bullet just as its name implies. If it were .309 it sure would be undersized.

I have fired them successfully in a 31-1 .32S&W long revolver. They print a bit low.

Give them a try as they are semi-rimmed and operate at no more than 16,000psi.

Just be sure to clean the chambers before using regular loads.
