.32 H&R coming back to the J frame - Ultimate Carry by Lipsey

I recently purchased a newly introduced S&W Model 432 Ultimate Carry 6 shot Snub-nosed J frame chambered in .32 H&R Magnum. After closely examining the revolver, which met my approval, I filled out the paperwork & took it home. I happened to have a box of factory .32 H&R Magnum ammo on the shelf, so off to the range we went. After the first cylinder of ammo, extraction was rather difficult. (I did swab out the barrel & cylinder chambers with Hoppes prior to the range session.) Subsequent cylinders of fired brass were equally difficult to extract. Now the cylinder is sliding off of the yoke due to the frame lug being slightly undersized. So a phone call was placed to S&W. A RMA number & a prepaid Fedex label were provided. The revolver arrived at the Mothership and now I wait the estimated 4-7 weeks before I get my new heater back.

The "Ultimate Carry" line of revolvers have some desirable features and I'm anxious to have it back. My guess is that the assembly folks don't have the work ethic their predecessors had. I'm cautiously optimistic that S&W will make it right. In the meantime, I've got $738 tied up in a firearm that's not available to me. The 4-7 week time frame is cause for concern. Either they have excessive amounts of returned product, or they employ limited resources on warranty work. Either option sucks for a consumer in my position.

I don't think 32 anything is going to be available in any reasonable numbers ever again. It's a limited market. That's the reason I just purchased a 31-1, learned to load it, and moved on.

I'm a big fan of 32's for carry but ammo availability is going to kill it.....again, after a few limited runs. 32 HR is running about a buck a round now.

I've been a 32 H&R fan for several years. I've had and carried this 432PD since 2016. Airweight, and with Culina Centennial stocks. Sights aren't as good as the new one, and also trigger, (although the trigger on mine isn't bad). The sights and grip changes make it a real plus. I hope it does very well.

I recently picked up my 432UC and before cleaning anything decided to drop ammo into the cylinder just 'cuz. On doing so one of the holes had a hiccup, and upon inspection I found a metal chip (from the chamber reamer?) clinging to the oil in the chamber. After a quick swab it was fine, but I have to admit to being a little surprised it wasn't cleaned better than that before shipping.

My father's 632UC is going to have to go back to S&W, the yoke/crane comes out of alignment when closing it. The screw is tightened all the way.

It didn't do that when I got to shoot it a couple of months ago, but I guess that the problem has revealed itself with more use.

Just talked to my FFL on my 432. He stated that they will be shipping, but due to several having bad front sights, they are having to check them all before they go out.

Very interesting as a member here reported a bad sight.
Owner of a new 432UC. First 50 rounds showed a serious accuracy problem that adjustable sight could not correct. Gunsmith verified barrel was twisted from factory throwing front sight off. Back to S&W for corrective warranty work. Been waiting now 6+ weeks. This is my second J frame revolver with barrel not installed properly. Sad after waiting so long to get this gun.

It is sad that in this day and age of all sorts of CAD/CAM/digital machining that S&W cannot get a barrel clocked correctly. I can clock a barrel correctly 100% of the time in my doggone garage!
I'm DONE buying S&W revolvers.
