Does anyone here load .32 H&R and if so have you used any of the Rainier plated bullets?

I don't, but load for the 327 Federal Mag. Same bullets. I do not use plated bullets I have hard cast for around 70 grains on up to 115. I have Speer GD and Hornady XTP HP's

Yes I load for the 32 H&R, but I don't shoot plated in it. I shoot hard cast lead. I shot some jacketed at first but switched to lead after my jacketed ran out.
The throats on my Model 16 were fine, but I had to ream the throats on my Rugers. They were really tight!

Thanks for the replies!(colt22man ; message sent) I have never tried the plated stuff in my .32 mag and I doubt they would stand up to the velocities of my main loads so I am wanting to know if the plated bullets would do OK up to about 1000 FPS.Just something to shoot cans with

I load some .32 H&R Mag but never plated bullets. I don't like loading plated bullets for ANY revolver cartridges that use roll crimps. But I don't think you'll have any problems if you load to 1000 FPS.

I have been casting my own lately from the Lee TL314-90-SWC mold, sizing them to .311 since the throats in my Ruger Single Six are tight, and am getting superb accuracy using Power Pistol. HS-6 is also a good powder. My shooting buddy calls them the "magic target load" since they have been giving around 2" groups at 50 yds from a rest, except for occasional vertical displacement. It is sometimes difficult to tune in one's eyes for precise elevation on a 4 5/8" revolver's sights at that distance.

VAdoublegunner,are the loads you use with HS6 and Power Pistol published somewhere?

I just recently started loading for my 16-4, and have tried Rainier 95 gr with both HS6 and Unique. (I'm not home now so relying on my memory for loads) I think it was 5.4 gr HS6 and 4 gr. Unique. I shot bot at 25 yds, and my preference seemed to be the Unique load. I am playing with these, cast and Jacketed bullets. Just picked up another 100 Hornady 100 gr. here in Denver to take back to IL. From what I have read, I don't think you can push the plated bullets near as fast as jacketed. Probably won't get much shot during the winter, unless we get some nice warm days.

But the following reciepe with copper-plated bullets is in my Ruger Single-Six and the Model 16-4 a good choice:
Bullet: 100 grain round nose copper plated
Primer: CCI 550
Powder: AA #5
Powderweight: 4.8 grains
COL: 1.395"
I posted another load in thread#7 at the following link with an lead-bullet.
I can't see a reason to try this load with a plated bullet too:

4 gr Unique and the RCBS 98 gr SWC. I have never bought 32 cal bullets.
