32 hammerless safety

Welcome to the Forum. You don't see too many of this particular model, since there were less than 40,000 manufactured. It is a 38 Safety, 2nd Model that would have shipped around 1894. The condition is well used, but probably still functions just fine. The caliber is 38 S&W, not 32 S&W.
Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! I can't usually contradict Gary, but I believe your .38 Safety Hammerless is a 3rd model which would probably have shipped around 1897. Actually, S&W made around 73,500 of these units from 1890-1898. Around my parts, these sell for $200 or less. If the action is good and it times correctly, you can shoot smokeless .38 S&W (not Special) in it. I can usually find it at a big box sporting goods store. I believe those stocks can be repaired. There is a member here that does restoration but ATM I can't recall his alias. BTW, you might try some Mother's Mag or Flitz polish on the nickel to clean it up. Make sure to remove the stocks and clean the grip frame. It tends to rust up when these guns sit for a long time.

You are right about the Model being a 3rd, but I believe the gun was shipped in 1894. Those push button Safeties are hard to distinguish unless you have an example to compare the size of the latch. The 3rd Model, however was manufactured from 1890 to 1898. All the revolvers made before serial number 119,900.
Forgot to add that 92,2XX shipped in 1894 and the first listed 1897 was 104,4XX. Not to say that the all shipped in serial number order, but the 38 Safety was a popular revolver and seem to be in pretty close order until the early 1900s, when the solid frame S&Ws became popular and the top breaks lost favor.

In either case, Wck, your gun is an antique and doesn't fall under federal firearms restrictions. So, you can ship it or sell it across state lines without using an FFL...and the big caveat...if you are in a FREE state that doesn't violate the constitution like NY, NJ and CA.
