The .327 Federal Magnum doesn't have quite the energy of a .357 Magnum, but it only has about 1/2 to 3/4 the felt recoil of a typical 125 gr .357 Magnum self defense load.
It also offers much better penetration than a 38 Special in a short barrel revolver, and it offers one more round in an otherwise five shot revolver.
Sadly, the .32 has never fared well in the US over the last 50 or so years as we seem to be allergic, or at least very caliber phobic to anything smaller than .355" in diameter.
I recall the same very positive press over the .32 H&R Magnum when it was introduced and it also largely fizzled in the marketplace, as seems to be the case with the .327 Federal Magnum. that's too bad as the option to shoot .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Mag or .327 Federal mag to suit your needs at the moment is a very handy feature.
