327 Performance Center

Just purchased a new 327 performance center 2 inch snub nose. Would I be foolish using 38 special during range practice sessions but carry 357 magnum ammunition. Shooting the 357 rounds becomes a bit uncomfortable after the first 10 or 15 rounds as the gun is so light in weight and does not absorb much of the recoil.

Have only put 20 rounds thru the gun so far...too early to tell....will probably go with hornady ctitical defense in 357 magnum

I dragged mine out of the moth balls for ccw [I keep dreaming about my autos going "click" at the wrong time!!!!!!]
As the gun is so light , my city load will be the Supervel "Super Snub"
90 gr HP at 1300 from a 2 inch!!! [ yes it will!!!]
Normal 110 or 125 gr HP [all +p] or whatever I can get...
The 357 option is for the "other " 357 mag.
My Alaskan take down lever gun....

It's OK to talk about about practice with .38s and carry .357s, but before you use that revolver for CCW, make sure you can handle the recoil of .357 ammo in a 'flyweight' gun like your 327. Also, to be able to deliver follow-up rounds, as BGs often bring their friends. Bucks up their courage. Am not a fan of S&W's modern-day wood grips such as those on your gun. I find myself using Hogue RB/SB designs that allow me to do in my 8-shot RB .357s what I suggested above. Be safe.

Police learned 50 plus years ago that you have to practice with what you carry. Practicing with .38s and carrying full magnums caused problems. You can shoot lots of .38s for practice, thats ok, but you should shoot enough full power carry loads to be very comfortable when you must use for self defense.

Shoot lots of 38 for practice. End your range session of 38 with 1 or 2 cylinders of what you will carry for full power wether 38+p or 357.

I have one of these and it is an excellent hiking gun. Not as light as the M&P 340 with 5 rounds 357 but not much heavier with a lot more rounds and much easier to shoot.

I practice with .38’s in mine, gun is so light I forget I’m carrying it. I put crimson trace grips on mine and I practice with it out to 15 yards. Wherever that laser points is what it hits. It is pretty cool when you have some smoke in the air at the in-door range and that laser gets highlighted as it’s pointing down range.
