327 TRR8 Barrel Rattle

Took my new S&W out this weekend, and put about 200 rounds through it. While cleaning, I noticed the rattle in the gun. Turns out the barrel wobbles slightly. My other revolvers have fixed barrels, so if something rattles, there's a serious issue, but since this has a floating barrel, I'm not used to this, and it doesn't seem right. Am I correct in thinking that the barrel should be firmly attached?

I have a 327R8, similar to your gun. Call Smith & Wesson and tell them your barrel is loose. They should send you a FedEx label for you to return it. Yours isn't the first to do this.

Agreed, that's not right. It's a problem that pops up now & then (mine's fine). Send it back to they can retorque & adjust the (3) piece barrel assembly.

Every now and then? So I should expect this to happen again? I'm pretty bummed that I'm already having to send it back, and not be able to use it for however long they keep it.

My TRR8 had to go back, too.
Performance Center fixed it.
Really need to do it right the 1st time.
