327 TRR8 M&P R8 differences?

I own a R8 since one year now, no regrets!!
That's a very cool gun, yes, and I enjoy the DA shooting, even with one hand. I have really good results with it ..(except with my weak hand, but I have not at all habit to shoot with it).

Again, perfect balance and sweet trigger!!

The TRR8 is a very cool gun. Read a review that stated the TRR8 was developed for SWAT teams for the lead SWAT member (the one holding the plastic shield). The purpose was to have a potent enough gun to shoot one handed and not have the slide action interfere or hit the shield as they are busting in.

I've read this also. Fascinating. Talk about re-inventing the wheel(gun)!

Hi guys, my R8 is for home defence, I did have a torch on it but am now looking for tritium sights. The s&w website doesn't seem to have any listed for the R8, does anyone here use them?

Groo here
I went the night sight for some time [quite expensive]
After some more classes my opinion has changed.
If it is dark enough for the sights, you cant identify the target.
If it is light enough to identify the target, you can see the regular sights.
Your "torch" aka "flashlight[I love that]" will allow both.
I will admit that nightsights allow you to find your gun in the dark
easier though, LOL.

Cheers buddy, managed to get a set of meprolight sights...they were a son of a bitch to fit but i'm pleased with the result!

Here is a photo of a M&P 327 R8 that I shoot every month in Steel Challenge competition.

What optics are you using and do you like them??? Would you do anything different???
Thanks

I use this C-More Railway red dot 8 moa for Steel Challenge competition. It works great; easy to "find" the red dot while trying to shoot as fast as possible.

I'm reviving an old thread here, but there is some misinformation regarding the TRR8 vs R8 which needs to be corrected:

The R8 DOES NOT have polygonal rifling. Both the R8 and TRR8 have traditional land and groove rifling. This can easily be confirmed by contacting S&W customer support (which I did).

The only differences between the R8 and TRR8: under-barrel light rail is built in for the R8 (versus bolt in for the TRR8); different sights; different markings on the barrel shroud. That's it.

Anyone who is going around claiming that the two revolvers have different rifling is spreading bad gouge.
