Do you owners of a TRR8 really like them. Couple of reviews on youtube guys love it. Nutnfancy ran a drill and loved it. If you love it or hate it please chime in.

I have the R8 and consider it to be my most accurate handgun.
Of course it helps to have a scope on it. It's a very comfortable gun to shoot. No problems at all with this gun.

I bought one, never fired it, and then later gave it to my dad for a Christmas present about 3 years ago. He never knew I had it so it was a nice surprise. We generally shoot outdoors. My teenage son, teenage nephew, dad, and I all had trouble seeing the front sight very well on a bright sunny day and had trouble shooting it for that reason. I cannot remember the exact front sight it had. I think it was a gold dot - something that was reflecting the sun. Otherwise it functioned well and was easy shooting. We all decided we prefer the older revolvers and prefer either a red ramp, Partridge, or Baughman front sight, at least on bright sunny days. The 8 shot capacity, light weight, and the rails are neat.

I have a Pinto TRR8 and love it. It is one of many 8 shot 357 Magnum S&W revolvers that I own and shoot

Scandium alloy is the greatest thing to happen to N-frames since stainless steel. Here you can have a full size gun but it weighs more like a model 19. Terrific for carry.

As already mentioned the Performance Center's tensioned, multi piece, match barrels that are used on the 327 family are exceptionally accurate.

You should have tried the light gathering front sight that came with the 327 JM. It lights up like crazy in strong sunlight.

That is one of the advantage of the Interchangeable Front Sight system that is used on these revolvers. 20 seconds and you have a new front sight.

Or you could have popped in one of the fiber sights

I bought the R-8 a few months ago and never shot it. Then i bought a sig P210 and needed money and put up 3 guns for sale and that R-8 sold. Am i sorry- hell yes.

I've had three. Bought the first one in 2007 and loved it. So did one of our sons, who immediately appropriated it. He's professional military and took it with him to some distant post, so I haven't seen it since.
Bought the second one in 2008. Loved it. So did ANOTHER of our sons, who quickly appropriated it. I do get to visit it once in a while, as he lives nearby.
Sooo, I bought a THIRD one in 2011. Super bad news. I was proudly - and probably foolishly - showing it to son Number Three. He is a cop. He grabbed it by the barrel and noted that it wiggled in the frame. ARRRGH! Called S&W who said, not surprisingly, "Send It Back."
Which I did. About three weeks later I got a replacement. Love it. Am hiding it from Son Number Three. None of them knows about the 327 M&P R8, either, so I now have two PC 327s and they are excellent. I rotate them with some other guns when I'm backpacking or day hiking in the mountains. They are, as others have said, very accurate, so they make good test beds for my handloads.
Ya feed yur kids, clothe 'em, beat 'em regularly, and SEE how they turn out?

I had reservations about getting mine because it had my 627pc to go a head to head comparison with, and out of the box it was perfect in every way, even better than my 627PC.

It's a bit more accurate, has a better trigger and then there's that weight advantage for carrying it a long time.

It's my fave revolver, and I DID nearly pay MSRP then add shipping and dealer fee on this side and it was over that. But, IMO it's worth it!

I have a TRR8 and love it now that I have fixed the light strike issue that seems to plague some of these scandium shooters.

I tried all primers, Win/Fed/CCI/etc, same result. With or without moonclips, same result. Installed extended firing pin, same result. I have two other 627's and decided to compare headspace. Using an empty starline brass case, I measured the distance between it & the recoil shield. Both 627's had .006-.007 clearance. The 327 had .012.

I "adjusted" the headspace by removing material at the extractor boss, adjusted the endshake & ran the barrel back to get the B/C gap I wanted. I have put at least 500 trouble free rounds through the 327 since then.

The single action trigger pull had some grit to it also...I slicked both SA & DA up quite a bit.

I do still have one more complaint about it though.....if cocked really slow single action there are three chambers that consistently do not engage the cylinder stop. Same ones every time. I may try to lengthen the hand. If used as normal or DA there is no problem at all but I think I got a bum one that got shoved through quality control. Shame on me for not inspecting it closer when I purchased it.

Anywho.....I LOVE this gun. It is extremely accurate & well balanced.

To other TRR8 owners out there are your rear sights the standard square notch ones? I thought the TRR8 and M&P R8 both came with the V-notch rears. Mine has the square notch.

The TRR8 is hands down the best shooting revolver I've ever owned. It developed the light strike issue but the factory corrected it and it's perfect. They are hard to find but worth the trouble. Loaded with .38+Ps I think it's the perfect house gun. 8 shot capacity and you can't limp wrist it under stress.

I just looked at mine. It's square notch rear with a brass bead front.

I picked up an R8 a few weeks ago from a pawn shop here... was the first one I've seen for sale in 2 years that I've been in a state where I am allowed to even look at guns without a gun license (good riddance Massachusetts...). Got it with the box, but had no moon clips... maybe I can get some from S&W? Also - how do I go about changing the front sight to a fiber optic one?

Moon clips can be bought from Midway, Brownells, direct from Ranch Products, TK Customs or Deluxe Moon Clip Tool along with loading/unloading tools and you'll get them much much faster than from the S&W shop who takes forever to ship. As for the FO sight I'd recommend the HiViz - Amazon.com : HiViz SW3001-G Smith&Wesson Fiber Optic Front Revolver Sight (.250 height) : Hunting And Shooting Equipment : Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31-2HBWlrHL.@@AMEPARAM@@31-2HBWlrHL for the R8/TRR8/325TR/329PD as the SDM FO is too long to fit the sight ramp area and hangs over it. Just pull the current sight towards the cylinder and pull up on that end and it will pop out, it's spring tensioned in the slot not held in with a pin.

I just bought one off of gunbroker. Got it for $1079 plus shipping. It should show up Mon or Tuesday at my LGS. cant wait. I have also been buying .44 mags 29,s 629, off of gunbroker. I am now self banning my use of gunbroker

You dont have to buy one. I have one and it isnt more accurate than most. But more convenient to carry and its utilities.
I recently had my own 8 shot shootout at the range. A 627 PC, R8, and a 929. All 38 calibers really.
The 929 won hands down. Accuracy, handling, taking the target out 25 yards and still getting them in a 10 ring (closer to 8, ha ha) standing -unsupported! It is insane accurate and havent even cracked the sideplate open. Havent needed to.

The 627 needed wilson combat springs, grip, and front sight! It handled the magnum rounds better than the R8 (duh! All steel)

The R8 rolled with front sight only. No mods yet.

The TRR8/R8 is a fine firearm - and shoots to its abilities. But not the most accurate ive shot. (In this caliber )
