Anyone here load the 350legend?
I have S&w's xframe in 350.
I have already loaded some ammo using Hornaday 170 bullets but, those are not easy to find.
Was thinking on squeezing down some home cast 180 gr and or sizing down some 358 jacketed bullets meant for 35 rifles.
Guess for this revolver, they would just have to fit the chambers.

Anyway, your all's thoughts about loading for the 350 revolver are welcome.

I too ignored the thread the first time I saw it at the top of the list thinking that thinking that LG was the abbreviation for large

To the point of the thread, I have not yet begun loading for the 350 Legend, but I do plan to once I shoot up the few hundred rounds that I have on hand that Browning sent me

My intent is to use both 9MM and 357 Magnum projectiles that I already have on hand. while I have many jacketed and plated 9MM projectiles that goto 165 grains for use in my suppressed firearms. It is probably the old scalloped Remington 180 grain SJHP that I'm looking for the most use out of. I have a few thousand still laying around

yeah ... I have this in the AR platform.
It's current projectile offerings leave a bit to be desired at this time. It's not a souped up 357 or a 358. It's a hot rodded 9MM, thus anticipating a .355 bullet. This may be an issue with tight chambers if one colors a bit outside the lines.
It's taken some modification to my chamber and lead to accommodate it, but I have it running a coated 200 grain gas check flat point. In your application, I'd size down a coated cast Keith type without hesitation.

357 Maximum is about 1/2 a MM shorter case length, so there is a useful loading "Beginners guide".

Ivan

true .... ish
going a little deeper, the old 357 max ran 40kPSI ... this baby is turned up to 55k.
That is to say there's room on the peddle to work into. But, for now, we are flying blind.
So far I like what I've seen from it.

I am thinking about building out an AR in this caliber as well.

I think I have enough sizing dies to get to .355-.356.
Two different molds I have are a 180rn and a 200gr rn.
Powder coated.
A few issues I won't need to worry about with this revolver, gas dwell time, feeding and magazine lenth.

There's a bit more to it in the AR than just size.
Odin gun works adjustable heavy buffer is advised CMMG makes your mags. So that much is easy.
What's not so easy is the bullet
Many of the 9mm offerings have too large of a metplat to feed, and tend to be a bit short.
Many 38's have good length and feeding characteristics, but the nose or shoulder also engage the rifling.
I'm using the Lee 200 grain rnfp gas check. I'm still working out some issues.
In a revolver, you won't have these issues, but it wouldn't hurt you to get on the task of finding a good bullet that will play nice in the AR for compatibility reasons.

Yep you are right that is something I haven't thought of yet. Either of those cast bullets will have the wrong profile and will likely not feed in an AR or they will need to be way short.
But they may work in my revolver.
Neither one is gas checked.
I powder coat them myself though.

This one fed well, though it's accuracy was suboptimal.

Our next contender is a 200 grain gas check.
Accurate and feeds well, though it will hang up in the throat at random.
It's the closest thing so far.

File this one under I wish
Feeding was an issue
