Anyone know what size dovetail is on the 3566 Limited front sight? Like the rear, it is something non-typical for a 3rd gen. Thanks.

Never got a response on this one but finally determined a solution that I thought I would pass along. I forget what the angle was on the S&W but it was off about 5 degrees from the Kimber front sight. If you have a sight pusher, and file a little angle on the dovetail to get it started, you can swage a Kimber front sight into the slide a little at a time; removing the sight after a short distance and filing off the burr and then pushing it in some more. I did a Dawson Precision this way in about 3 or 4 steps and it worked out great. I used a .090" wide by .200" tall with the original Bo-Mar style adjustable rear sight. This technique will also work on a 845 and I believe the same front sight height could be used but I haven't tried that one yet.

I have done the same for friends that needed a narrower front sight. S&W has no records remaining and I contacted Paul Pluff and he had no clue. I just take a sight file and slightly recut the angle adjust the width for the client and use a sight pusher to replace it
