The Rest of the Story
Getting ready to go to Glendale to display for the first time. My table title is going to be "Dad's Guns."
Looking through some boxes from our old gun store for material for the display.
Found a handwritten list of my dad's personal guns.
On the list was S&W Model 19 .357 Mag 4 in, blue #K261590 1st year mfg.
Well, that is not a Model 19, that is the Combat Magnum Tim has in Alabama. Now we know why I had the box.
I know my dad owned the gun in 1966. He always referred to it as a 4 screw Model 19. I never saw the box. He had the gun and the box for many years, but they were never together. I think he probably forgot he had it.
A few years ago I was not shooting my guns. Was not even looking at them. Needed money for a house remodel so sold the "Model 19" along with a few others.
I sold it at a gun show in north Texas to a guy that said he had a gun store in southern Oklahoma. Eventually the gun got to Charlie Sides who sold it to Tim Thomas in Alabama.
When I found a box for a Combat Magnum I had no idea that it belonged to the "Model 19" I had sold.
I contacted Tim just to tell him that now we know why I had the box and maybe update the threads on the story.
He offered to let me have the gun back. Very nice of him and much appreciated.
Posted this info in another thread,
https://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-h...-combat-magnum-coming-home.html#post142009395 but thought it would be good to have the full story all in one place.
The Combat Magnum and its story will be a great addition to the display "Dad's Guns."
