I tried the Noe Bullet Mold Expanders and I couldn't get them to adjust far enough on my lnl ap press. All LEE dies are a close fit on this press especially with such a short case as the 9 mm.
I had a Lyman M-die that I had set up for 357 Mag and used it. It worked perfectly. I will use the Noe Bullets Mold Expanders for my 357 Mag. The 357 Mag case is much longer and should have a lot more leeway for adjustment.
Right now, I'm testing with Bayou 124 grain RN coated bullets sized to .358. So far so good. I will do more accuracy testing in the future. I'm using the same load as my standard 9mm load except for the bullet and OAL. The Bayou bullets are also slightly longer than the SNS bullets I've been using. I hope this works out.
It also looks like these bullets will fit in my Walther but I haven't tested them in the Walther yet. I still have almost 2,500 SNS .356 coated bullets that work great in that gun.
My goal one day is to simplify my component inventory for all my reloading.
I'm still unhappy with Smith & Wesson for not making the 986 a true 9mm.
I also haven't had any more light strikes with my 986. Whatever Smith & Wesson did to fix the light strike problem it worked. But it took two tries.
Thanks!!
