357 Highway patrollman and 357 model 19

I inheiritted several handguns when my father passed away last december. I am trying to figure out a value of the highway patrollman and the other 357. The highway patrollman is 95% in condition, and the other is 98% and only ever been shot a few times with 38 rounds. I am interested in selling both guns and have had a couple of offers from friends. What would you estimate the current value would be for each. Both guns are from the 1960s.

Your revolvers look to be very nice,all are colectable.dont no the market in your area,I think any of them could bring 400.to 800.bucks. Do you have boxs tool kits and paper work maybe more ,who knows. Personally I would keep them, sentimental resons.

Welcome to the forum. My condolences on losing your Dad.
The Highway Patrolman is a 5 screw and the upper sideplate sscrew went away in 1956 according to the SCSW so the gun is earlier than you thought. I would say it's probably worth more than $475 - $550. It looks to be in very good condition from the pictures. If you tell us the serial number we can nail down the year. You can x out the last 2 numbers if you don't want the whole world to know the number.
I would reconsider selling your Dad's guns. Once they are gone you will probably never get them back.

I went back and read your post again and see where you say "inherited several handguns" and we don't know the whole story so maybe selling these 2 is not a bad idea. It's just that we have seen cases where someone sold Dad's/Granddad's or someone special guns and regretted it later.

And as already mentioned, I suggest you don't sell them. I don't think I could ever sell a firearm that I might inherit from my dad or my father-in-law. The sentimental attachment would just be too great.

Condolences on your Dad's passing. My dad passed in 2009 & I have the privilege of having his S&W 38 revolver. I only inherited 1, but make sure you really really want to sell them. You can't unring the bell. Every time I look at or shoot the gun I think of how he taught me safety & respect for guns.

I'm sorry to hear about you losing your dad. I lost mine a year and a half ago now, and miss him every day. He left me several handguns, and I won't be parting with any of them.

As far as putting a dollar value to them, it is all about condition and extras. The boxes, tools, and paperwork add value and collector interest. If you post the first four letters/numbers of the serial number we can help with a date. Both of those models are very popular here on the forum, and unless you are committed to selling to your friends you can get a good price for them here.
