Chrono'd 357 Mag 158 gr Dardas cast and 7.2 grs PP from 4 inch S&W Mod 28, 4 inch. Six shots average 1,087 fps.

Also more accurate than my 7.0 grs Unique load with same bullet. Much cleaner also, and it's "bark" was refreshing!

My new go to 357 Mag cast load.

Nothing like finding a good accurate "working load".

I like Power Pistol under a 158gr LSWCGC myself. :D

I can't speak for power pistol as I have never tried it . My go to load for the 357 , after much trial and error is 7.5grs of WSF under a 158-160 gr cast bullet . It is THE most accurate load I have found so far and shoots well out of my 681 , 686 and 19 . I don't have a chrono so can't give you exact details other than it is very very accurate .
I stumbled onto WSF (Winchester Super Field )because of a gentleman from Virginia used to post a lot here . When I couldn't get anymore unique , for years on end I tried WSF , based on his recommendation . I use it in all my revolvers , from 38spl to 45 LC and all the magnums in between . And yes , it can be very clean also . It is a little slower on the burn rate chart than unique . I have been told it is a premier powder in 9mm w/147 gr bullets , but I have no actual experience to back that up .

Lots of good loads can be put together for the desirable mid range
158 gr cast SWC .357 mag load. 6.1 grs Bullseye basically duplicates
the PP load above at 1089 fps out of my 4" S&W mod 28-2. 6.4 grs of
W231 is a bit faster at 1115 fps. Hodgdon Longshot at 7.4 grs and
1156 fps up to 7.8 grs at 1198 fps is the powder to beat in my opinion.
All loads are comfortably below published maximums. Many more
possible combinations exist. One of these days I will get around to
trying Autocomp powder. Not a lot of published data yet but charges
are almost identical to CFE Pistol it seems.

How about a full string of 10 shots??

ES/ High/Low

SD

I'll interpret your no answer to mean that you do not have this data?

6 shots does not make a statistically valid sample especially without the ES and SD.
What was the outside temperature and elevation?
Any wind?
Was all the brass the same headstamp and of course trimmed to the same length? What primer was used.??

PP as well as Long Shot has a high nitro content so it has a loud report.

What other data was it compared to to make it??:

"Also more accurate than my 7.0 grs Unique load with same bullet. Much cleaner also, and it's "bark" was refreshing!

My new go to 357 Mag cast load."

We must have DATA

Rule3, If you don't like my limited shot strings, and perhaps my less than scientific method of compiling data, then pls feel free to ignore my data. I'll share it with others.

No problem, you didn't post any real data, but want others to post theirs.
If you want to replicate every known 38 and 357 mag load, then accumulating more data would be the prudent thing to do.

Unless there are huge fluctuations in ES and SD, such numbers are of little consequence, particularly with regard to handgun loads. Accuracy should be a far more important concern. And, yes, a 10-shot string average is better than a 6-shot string average, but not by much in a practical rather than a pedantic sense.

PP barks a bit though, but it's ok being an ole former 41 and 44 Mag fanatic.
38SPL HV,I know this is not the topic here but you pulled one of my strings:I'm looking into PP for .41 and .44 Mag and was wondering if you have used it in these cal and if so,what are your comments about it?
Qc

I sold my 41's and 44's some years back. Didn't have a chance to use PP. I relied on Universal, Unique for my Mid Range loads and trusty ole 2400 for magnum level loadings.
