I have been looking at purchasing a new handgun and have had my eye on the M&P .357 sig. So i go to dealer today to order one and smith and wesson is discontinueing it. I didnt buy because i wanted to ask around why they would do that?
Because the sales numbers were never as good as the other calibers. Got mine for a very low price because the dealer was over stocked but the 40 was flying off the shelf. The extra 40 barrel was $70. I got the pistol and barrel $50 cheaper than I could have bought the M&P40.
I just acquired a used one in a trade and promptly ordered a .40 barrel for it from gunbarrelsupply.com for $49.95 plus $8.99 shipping.
Now I have two .357/.40 setups. The M&P and a Sig P226. The M&P setup cost me less than half the price of the Sig setup. I'm a happy camper.
i this is exactly what i've been looking for a 357 barrel fro my M&P40C. i guess i will call S&W on monday and see if i can order one. unless you guys have a site where i can purchase one that wont break the bank....
I doubt S&W not selling a .357SIG will have any bearing on prices, lots of other people willing to make guns that chamber it (Glock, hmmm, maybe even Sig? )
The .357 SIG is a fine caliber and more than a few LE departments issue it, including my little brother's. I'd be happy to own one and I think I'd prefer it to the .40.
