360 / 360j -- same or different?

The 360J is an "enigma wrapped in a riddle". Mine is 4 years old, and is as described by KERNEL. But all things considered if you can find one for the right price, I highly recommend you buy this revolver. Of my 4 J frame snubbies, this is my favorite by far for carry :)

How are they to shoot? I know it will not be as "comfortable" as my 60 and I know its not a "range gun". How is it to run a box through?

The 360J I bought about a month ago has a date of 08-18-2015 on the test fire case envelope. Apparently, they are made when the urge strikes Smith & Wesson.

As far as recoil is concerned, they're just like shooting any other J-frame Airweight in my opinion. But, I never found the Airweight recoil to be even close to severe. It is slightly lighter feeling in weight, as I held another regular J-frame Airweight to compare feel, when I purchased this little gem. It is also a very good shooter, as I was able to keep all shots on an 8" Dirtybird target at 25 yds. with several different ammos. I love mine.

The 360J is .38spl only, mine is part of the first run from 2008, I bought it from Bud's. In late 2008, maybe early 2009 Bud's was selling some .357mag 360's that looked like the 'J' model but they were not 360J's nor were they M&P's. They were selling for about $100 more than the 360J. As far as I know that was the only time they were available, haven't seen them since but there's been several runs of 360Js in that time.

I looked at the gun in the auction, that is very similar to the one I'm talking about but I can't see the date on the empty casing envelope to be sure and the grips look later than '08-'09 but I could be wrong.

As far as what gun someone is referring to when they say '360', who knows? People say all kinds of things that mean something else. I know guys that still refer to every 1911 as a 'Colt .45'. You have to ask them to be more specific, I guess.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Now I'll have to go back to the shop (not my LGS) and see what theirs is. Most likely a 360J, based on your and others' comments.

Mine is CTF59xx so if serial numbers follow order i guess it is also a 2012 revolver. I purchased it used and i'm sure the dealer didn't know anything about it. As soon as i saw the titanium pins below the cylinder and the small blast shield above the forcing cone as well as the black finish i had to have it. Mine does say S&W.38CAL. on the right side of the barrel shroud. I wasn't sure it was a 38 special till i got it home and tried that ctg. Glad i was able to acquire it.
