37-2 value

I know--not a big fan of generic "value" questions myself, but curious to your opinions on this one for cash or trade value. Rarely do I sell a handgun, but may consider this one.

I'm the original owner (with box, but can't find the receipt yet) of a 37-2 pre-lock in very good condition. Bought new about 1990, my wife carried it on occasion--now carries a 642 (as do I). I have a number of revolvers and often forget I have this one as it never sees life outside the safe. Thanks

When you find the receipt, here's a little trick for determining the current value. Go to Google and type in "inflation calculator".

Punch in what you paid and the year. Hit return. The value shown will be almost exactly what it's worth today. Why? Because guns track inflation almost perfectly.

This assumes you paid something close to the current market price at the time, and not an "old lady next door" type price for the gun, of course.

Values can vary a lot in different parts of the country. The sales that I’ve tracked this year on Gunbroker have all gone for around $400+/- depending on condition. Maybe a little more with the box. My 37-1 pawn shop find a few weeks ago was $395 + tax.
