I have seen Remington 158 grain, Buffalo Bore, American Eagle & Federal. Winchester is about the only brand I have not seen in around here.

I recently purchased Remington 158gr. 38 Special "Target" Lead RN and Remington HTP 158gr. 357 SJHP at my local BPS within the last month.

Yes 158 grain ammo is still made. I just purchased a box of 158 grain .357 for a Christmas present. Blazer aluminum .357 JHP.

Federal American Eagle .38 Special 158 grain lead round nosed standard load.

Federal American Eagle .357 Mag 158 grain Jacketed Soft Point, CCI Blazer aluminum cased and Blazer brass .357 Jacketed Hollow point. Speer Gold Dot 158 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point.

The issue is finding .38/.357 right now. I think now that supply is starting to catch up with demand on 9mm and .223, we will start to see more of the other calibers. I just scored some Federal AE .30 Carbine after not seeing any for almost a year.

Every manufacturer out there makes 158gr loads in .38/.357. Problem is finding the ammo itself.

This might finally be the thread I was looking for.As the OP said It does seem like most .38 spl ammo is 130 gr. Lately I'm reading that 158gr. seems to be preferred in the .38. and also the .357.

Right now all of my guns in .38 and .357 have 4"barrels. My only interest is target shooting anywhere from 10-25yds. I just want to find ammo that will not give wide varying results at those distances if possible. I presently have a stockpile of .38spl 130gr. JHP so regardless of the opinions here I'll have to use it.

I know a lot of us newbies are asking for a "one size fits all" solution but is there an answer without the usual multiple choices?

This is because most S&Ws in those calibers are factory regulated to shoot point of aim to point of impact with 158 grain.

If that is the limit of your intended use for your .38/.357s, suggest you switch exclusively to 148 grain match grade wadcutters; your revolvers won't notice the absent 10 grains, and you'll appreciate the light, smooth recoil, accuracy and consistency of a quality match round.

Go to Target Sports USA on the web today. They have 158 grain .38 Special and .357 Magnum in stock at fair (for today's market) prices and free case quantity shipping. I've purchased from them several times with no problems.

My Cabelas usually has 158 gr fmj 38 from Herters. I think you can order it online too. I've shot a decent amount of it. Burns pretty clean and was accurate.

S&B has 158 gr ammo, Sellier & Bellot - Pistol and revolver cartridges it takes some heat for being "dirty" but it works for me.
