38/44 HD date

Just found a 38/44and need to know when they were first introduces ? The serial # is 35872.all matching numbers ,service grips with silver medallions
It has a 5" barrel .The finish is freckled ,but bore and chambers like new,with a light turn line .Any idea on value It cost me $250.00

Can you recheck that S/N?...My copy of SCSW4 does not show non-letter prefixed N-frame S/N's going any higher that 5 digits......Ben

Pictures, we love pictures. An HD from 1936/37/38 would have an SN in the 5X,XXX range. Post war they had an S prefix starting around S6X,XXX.
These were often bored out for 357s, is yours still original.
