38/44 serial number

the serial number on the 38/44 that I am looking at is 53294. Someone had asked for that. The gun is mint except that the grips are not numbered. They are a perfect fit target coke bottle type grips with no flaws. I am going to get the gun next Tuesday if it is still there. Need to sell some M1's to pay for it. Will post pics when/if I get it.

bloo, It was probably aspenhill that was asking for the number - he keeps a HD data base. The grips are not original to the gun, of course, and may be worth as much, or more, than the gun! Nice find. Post some pics when you get it.

thanks for the info. any more detail like is it a 5" blue?nickel? with that serial number, it was most likely shipped in 1938 with magna grips.
can't wait for the pics and hope you get it-
