So i picked up a model 38 airweight with the concealed hammer that can still be cocked for single action use. From what I have found it is a J frame model 38 Bodyguard. The kicker is I got if for 100 bucks. If anyone can shed some light on the build/ship date I would really appreciate it. First 4 of serial number are 914J. Not my first Smith but is my first Smith revolver.

Thanks,

You do know we hate you already....

I'll give you 200 right now......:D

I am sure one of the guys who has the info will be here shortly...those are great guns.

You just can't put a steady diet of +P's through them.

Congrats !

$100.00? Holy smokes, I just picked my new Model 38 (no dash) today for the grand price of $334.00 ($299.00 gun price + $35.00 shipping/handling). Mine looks great, and I have no regrets, but for $100.00 jeez! Congratulations on a great deal.

Regards,

Dave

The guy I got it from is the one who make the price, it appears to have been shoot less then 20 or so times as there is no wear on the cylinder outside/inside or anywear but the bottom of the wood grips from being carried. Hopefully I will get to shoot it this weekend. I know about the no +Ps as I have a Charter 38spl that I can't shoot +Ps through either, that is why I have a Ruger Security Six for the +P 38s and the 357s.

I got one 10 years ago for $260 and I thought I stole it then.
One of my favorites. The old stainless steel one don't get used much now. Paid $395 for the stainless one new 30yrs ago.
Good buy enjoy.

Finally got to shoot it and it shoots almost as good as it looks, I mean I made it shoot almost as accurate as it looks. Even carried it a few times as it is lighter the my LC9. Have had thoughts about selling it or trading it but after shooting it and carrying it those thoughts are gone.

One M38 is not enough.

I MY opinion the Airweight Bodyguard is a PERFECT pocket gun.

Both of your pictures make me drool! I am mainly a semi auto pistol guy but do have 3 revolvers and love to shoot them.
