Which manufacturer of full moon clips do you use for the L frame 7 shot revolver with 38 Colt short brass.

IIRC, modern 38 Short Colt cartridges share the same base and rim dimensions as the 38 Long Colt, the 38 Special, and the 357 Magnum. Therefore, whatever full-moon clips you are now using in your L-Frame seven-shot should work just fine.

Not using any right now - don't have any 38/357 revolvers with moon clips...looking for suggestions, including thickness etc

I'm not sure whose brass you are using. That is your starting point find brass, then you will match the moon clips to the brass and cylinder. Since others are doing it you know it can be done.

Alternative Method: Call the guys that cut your gun and ask them!

All that I want to know is - if "you" are "using fullmoon clips" in your 7 shot with 38 Colt short brass, what brand and thickness are you using.

I think that the short cases clear the cylinder more quickly than the Special. The loads are similar with less components used. Think IDPA.
NOT LEGAL IN IDPA. Not the 7 shot loading either; 6 max in IDPA revolver.

.025" TK Custom 7 shot for Starline brass. This coming weekend I'll be using my 627 8 shot revo with .025" TK 8 shot moonclips for Starline brass on Sunday at Wilkes Barre Pa. USPSA. And on Saturday, its USPSA at Lower Providence Pa. with my 929. That gets .035" standard blue TK moon clips.
For anyone just going to the range to just stand there and shoot, Ranch Products moon clips are great. Reloading on the clock in a match where a fumble could be a disaster, the TK moon clips are more reliable.

Ignatz nailed it. The way to go for rimmed calibers is Starline brass and TKCustom .025 made for Starline. I've tried everything else. This works the best. For rimless calibers, .035, brass and moonclips aren't quite as picky, but still best to match moons with brass.

The short colt has less recoil than the others, and can hit the "X" a lot more than the others. I carried them in my J Frame at gun shows just in case I had to shoot someone and not kill someone behind them. If I have to shoot, it would be a head shot. to many wear a vest. My two cents. Plus they are fast on the reload like a 9MM is with moon clips.
