My choices exactly. Stingers work well with their nickel cases in everything and last longer without fail when they start getting high round count between cleanings. But I prefer the Golden bullets to everything else, an I have tried them all. I have a dozen 22 I shoot, half of them suppressed. I have tried at least a dozen brands, those are my choices.22lr cci standard 40gr and Federal Champion. Shoot thru all my 22lr pistol, revolver and rifles without problems. Dependable.
In my experience only you won't see much difference at 25 yards. I have 10-22 with a bullet drop reticle scope. I shoot at a target with three little spinners at 100 yards. with stingers which is a 32 grain bullet and really fast, I aim dead on center. With 40 grain HV rounds I have to aim 2 dots up to hit. The different weights are really a bigger factor when shooting past 50 yards.I still cannot figure out the difference between 36, 38 and 40 gram ammo. I have used this ammo in my Mod 41 and there has been little difference in accuracy on targets at 25 yds. I am baffled.
Funny you mention Thunderbolts! I've owned a mod 17-2 since 1976, and kept an FFL for almost 20 years! I ordered my 22 ammo by the case! In the almost 20 years I ran 13 cases through it! Since 1996 I've bought an estimated 4-5 more cases. I've tried practically every brand out there for accuracy in that 17, would you believe, it shoots Thunderbolts better than anything I have ever put through it, never had a single problem! The majority of 90,000 rounds have been Thunderbolts!Pretty much any 22LR is dependable anymore, but I avoid Remington Thunderbolts like the plaque. I've found it to be terrible inconsistent. As far as what shoots best, you just have to try a few different ones and see what your gun likes. I've found Winchester Wildcat to be a cheap ammo that's been accurate in a wide range of firearms. RWS Tac 22 has been pretty good in several of my rifles as well.
