38 DA 2nd Model ?????

I'm pretty sure I've got a 38 DA 2nd Model Serial #20xxx. It appears to have never been fired or fired very little as the bore is near perfect. As you can see this finish isn't 100% but its an old gun. Any help or info on positive ID and value is greatly appreciated.

Without anything else to judge size by, I would say from the short cylinder flutes that you have a .32 DA 2nd Model. (Not a .38)

deadin - I just can't type fast enough - I agree that it is a 32 DA from the early 1880s. Looking at your pictures, it looks like a quite nice nickel finish.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations! Nice old antique .32 DA 2nd. It shoots .32 S&W centerfire (short cartridge).

Thanks for all the timely responses. I had originally thought that it was a 32 and then read an article and thought it was a 38. Glad to finally know ! I had thought about selling it but the more I look at it and consider its age, its a really cool gun and plus its a revolver, need I say more.

If your 32 DA functions well, you should be able to shoot it without problem. 32 S&W ammo is available and reasonably priced and these guns are great fun to shoot, but they are definitely not tack drivers.

My 32 DA cylinder chamber measures .336" and my 38 DA chamber measures .385", so if you have a caliper micrometer, check it out before buying ammo.
