So, another group of pieces in my late, great dad's box o' stuff, successfully reasembled with matching serial numbers, into an almost complete Double Action Third Model 38 S&W; only it is missing the hammer. Edit: located a hammer w/ fly; now I can't find the cylinder stop for the Third Model!

Serial no. is 165xxx
the top one in the picture. Sorry, I have it taken apart right now and didn't have time to reassemble before posting this.

Try The Old West Gunsmith, Twaits and a couple of the guys turned me on to him last week for Baby Russian parts. He should have it or maybe even buy or trade your extra parts. The bottom gun looks like a 3rd model SA action or one of the Mexican contract guns. It is much rarer than the DA and would be a better project if you can only get to one.

Yes, the bottom one is a SA 3rd model (Model No. 2 Third Model) missing a few parts; mainspring (broken), trigger spring, handguard, pivot screw and the hammer stud nut.
I'm keeping my eyes open for these parts, too.

My daughter wants to make lampstands out of them, though.
She'll have to wait a few more decades to do that.
