38 S&W

I had a 38 S&W requlation Police from the 20's and let it go.

Now may buy one but from a later era.

My question... What models were made in 38 S&W from the end of WWII?

I believe that both the Terrier and the Regulation Police were made in .38 S&W up until the 60's. I'd love to run up on either revolver, the RP from the 20's or the Terrier with the round front sight. They are elegant little revolvers. I bought a refinished 1926 Colt Polive Positive from a forum member and became smitten with the .38 S&W round.

The Terrier became the model 32 and the Regulation Police became the model 33. You may also consider the K frame Victory model revolvers sold to the British Commonwealth countries during WWII. They were all chambered for the 380-200 which is the same as the 38 S&W. After the war, the 38 S&W chambered, M&P K frame revolvers eventually became the Model 11.

Yeah, the Regulation Police was a 4" 5 shooter -- that would be real hard to come by. After WWII the police world was dominated by the Model 10 -- a 4" 6 shooter. Those can be had a fairly low prices -- depending on condition you could get a good shootable and nice looking gun for between $325 (some wear and tear and minor dings, but not a rusty pitted wreck) and $550 (super clean).
