I have a large quantity of once fired (at least)38 special cases, mixed nickel and brass - mostly nickel, mixed head stamps . Not processed in any way and still retain spent primers. I would like to pass these along to anyone who can use them but I have no idea what to ask for them and I do not want to ship. I have about 20 lbs. of this brass, or more. Not looking to profit - what's a fair value?

100 rounds is about a pound so roughly guessing about 2,000 rounds.

100 new 38 brass is about 25-30 dollars. But that's brand new brass, if you can find it?

And there's a few factors that go into it. Many reloaders shy away from the nickel plated, so that will hurt a bit. What is the condition? Is it range pick ups from 20 years ago? that have many that will need to be discarded?

And, like myself ,many reloaders of 38 already have few thousand pieces of 38 brass and aren't going to put up big bucks for something they already have a bunch of just sitting on shelf.

I know you said you don't really want to ship, but using USPS flat-rate shipping, it is pretty reasonable. I think quite a few will fit in the medium and large flat rate boxes. You can easily print the postage at home as there is no weight limit...

I've shipped a lot of brass USPS priority. I run the label at home on our printer and drop it off in a bin at the post office. 500 pieces of 38 spl will probably fit in a medium priority box. 17 bucks to ship and the boxes are free at the PO.

Brass is worth a lot more than I usually charge but I usually just sell it for 0.05/piece shipped or trade it for something I need. I prefer trading like mountain men and native tribes did.

Somebody out there needs 38 Spl brass and is willing to trade or pay for it.

That's what's great about this website. You can negotiate just about anything you wish.

Viceunit, do you load .308?

i have Federal brass in quantity. It's once fired same day pick up from LEO snipers that use my range occasionally. I can't guarantee all same lot but have had good accuracy results sorting cases by weight. This was all Gold Medal Match ammo.

Thanks for the replies. The box weighs about 32 lbs, and that's after I pulled out about 15 lbs for myself. That should last me for life. I don't even remember where I got all this, I've had it for at least 15 years. I just started reloading for 38/357 as I just got my Dillon SD dies for the caliber. They were on back order for 6 months due to supply chain delays. I've had the equipment since 1984 but loaded 44 sp. and magnum only until now.

Commercial prices for once fire .38 Special brass is around $50/1,000.

That is the commercial price. IMO if you offer it for $30/1,000 plus shipping you will be making a few bucks and helping out other reloaders with a very fair and generous price.
