I have an airweight model 37 with a steel cylinder, no lock, that I would like converted to 9mm. I purchased two 9mm cylinder assemblies for future projects a few years ago from the S&W parts dept.. They were two of the last three on the shelf.
I have two other 9 mm revolvers, a 940 and a Ruger security six. Now I'd like a light weight 9mm as a backup to my semi-autos. Is an airweight with steel cylinder safe with the 9mm vs a scandium frame model? any gunsmiths in south florida that can handle the cylinder fitting conversion, or should i use someone like Cylinder and Slide.

I think the pre-lock model 37 was not +P rated for .38 Special, and the 9 mm operates at about 60% higher pressure than +P .38, so I suspect this is not a safe conversion.

DO NOT make this conversion.

Your frame will not last long.

If you want a light weight 9MM revolver, find a model 360.

The Scandium frame will take the stress.

Pinnacle can do the conversion for you. Just send them the original cylinder. They do
not need the complete revolver.
