I recently bought these two guns, w/o boxes and 39-2 appears be new unfired (box disappeared in shipment) S/N A329474 and it is nickel plated w/o any chips or scratches.

Also picked up a SS 5906 S/N YTY1247 it has some very minor holster ware. Also has the round trigger with the seriations like the square trigger guard models, with rear adjustable combat guard sight.

Any idea of dates?

ACEd is far better at these than I am, I don’t believe I have seen a Y-prefix on a 5906, but maybe I have before I got to know some of these ranges.

Is there any chance that you aren’t seeing the letter V rather than Y ?

Can you post a picture of S/N?

I have never seen a 3rd Generation pistol with a S/N starting with Y. Possibly starting V - its sometimes hard to distinguish their V from Y?

But for that matter I have never seen a VT. VY is common circa 1996. But S/N are not necessarily sequential. Most accurate S/N info for triple alpha prefixes can be obtained by sending a request to SW with Model and full S/N to [email protected]
