39-2?s

Cyrano,

No WO rear on mine. The red insert is a liitle "worn" looking as the edges appear a bit rounded. Judging from the bluing loss on the muzzle, I reckon it is a further manifestation of mucho holster wear.

After my earlier post prattling on about 39-2 pricing, when I saw one for $299 at the gunshow today (with three factory magazines) I decided if I didn't buy it I was a hypocrite. So I bought it.

I know, I know. Pictures. That'll take a bit of doing. My home PC with the card slot big enough to take a compact flash card gave me the blue screen of death last week and won't boot up now. My laptop doesn't have a big enough card slot. I'm working on it, okay?

What a fabulous gun in ALL regards......I own three of them. No real need for parts as they seldom seem to break and has already been mentioned many parts from the 3rd gen guns seem to work.
I used my for CCW and also in some IDPA matches and had a hoot!
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine......
Randy
PS. If you need some magazines I have a couple of ProMag's for a 39 that I would sell. They are in new condition.

ProMags work in yours? Interesting. I ordered two, and neither would even go all the way up the magazine well. The feed lip was different size and shape than the factory ones. I returned them to the dealer.

The gun really does fit my hand. I have a 908 and a 910 as well. The 908 conceals better, the 910 holds twice as many rounds, but I keep coming back to the 39. It just fits better.

Several months ago I picked up a nickel 39-2.

I'll admit it. Although being a classic factored into my thinking, I bought it because it is pretty. (I am a woman, after all, it's my prerogative LOL )

Imagine my surprise when, the first time i shot it, i shot it better than a pro series M&P 9 that I have had for a year. Still do. It just FITS my hand. When the weather cools off and I start wearing jackets again, it may join my CC lineup.

Along with a model 19, the 39-2 has been added to my list of guns every enthusiast has to own at least once in their gun owning career.

I would be so disappointed if it ever broke. Thanks those above who suggested spare parts to have on hand.

I stumbled on a new 39-2 after I sold my Glock 19. What a pleasant surprise the first time I shot it. I did replace the hammer spring with a lighter one from Wolff and bought two 9 round mags from Midway. They also have 8 rounders if you prefer as the 9 will stick out a little. Nicest gun I ever owned I think.

Even if they might not admit it I daresay there are many here on the forum who have bought a gun just because it looked good. I agree that it's a really good looking gun in the nickel. I've seen one with custom rosewood grips that made it look just stunning. It's kind of like finding a really great looking pair of shoes and then they don't hurt your feet! ;)

Try lookin on Gunbroker.com there are quite a few 39s in great shape and pretty good prices
