Well, I finally got back the 39-2 I should never have sold.

Now I'm wondering how different the shooting experience is between the 39-2 and the 3906 in terms of ergos, trigger, and sights and whether it would be worth the investment (of me selling off some other guns) to find a good 3906 shooter (not trying to compare a used gun with something like NIB....I figure it would be in "decent" shape but not pristine.).

I've got a 5906 and it's a great gun that I was wise enough not to sell. But now I'm thinking of what to add to the accumulation.

It would be for the range as I carry either a Shield or Sig 320 (light, easy to conceal, constant trigger and great capacity in the Sig...the Shield is for pocket carry).

I haven't seen many 3906s for sale on gunbroker and the one currently listed is like $1,100 which I think is outrageous, but then I just started looking. (They just may be priced out of my bank account. For less than that I could get the Walther P4 I've be coveting).

Maybe I should be asking the shooting difference between the 39-2 and a 539 or 639....or the 3904. I want another single stack 39 series gun....and haven't seen any 900s on GB either.

Advice??

I have a 39-2, 639, 3904 and 3906 (all with fixed sights) and owned a 5906 in the past. Given that you have a 39-2 and 5906, you basically already know how they all shoot - it's just about the weight and grip differences. The 3904/3906 grip feels thinner than the 39/639. The 3904/3906 early fixed sights were lacking somewhat (but still better than the 39/639) - I changed mine to Trijicons making a world of difference. They later came with Novaks. To me, the 3906 shoots just like a 5906 with the obvious capacity and grip difference. That being said, I no longer own the 5906 if that says anything.
I think a 3906 is always a good pistol to have even though the prices seem to be going up.

I also have a Walther P4 but that's for another forum.

3906

My assortment is small but I do have a 39-2, 3906 and 5906. My suggestion would to add a 3906 simply because of its low production number. My 3906 was the first 3rd Gen I purchased three years ago and I have not seen another at shows or LGS. All three are great shooters though the 5906 is a little large for my small hands.

Consider the single stack 9mm Walter P5, which also maybe hard to find and can be pricey.

Best of luck in your hunt!
