Hi all,

I am having a hard time figuring out the differences of the 908 model, and 3900 series of pistols.

They both look the same to me. I know the 908 is the "value" line of handgun, but are they the same pistol for all intents and purposes?

I am curious because I traded off a 908s a while back, and now I have the opportunity to get a 3913 in another trade. I don't really want the 3913 if it's essentially the same gun as the 908s.

Thanks in advance for your help!

For all intents and purposes, yes, the 908 and the 3913/14 are pretty much the same thing but for some minor points. Same size and same weight for the most part.

If you didn't care for the 3913, you probably will not like the 908 either.

The 3913 is a more refined version of the 908. Extra bells and whistles, and one significant difference.

The 3913 has a lug atop the barrel and a corresponding cut in the slide - providing tighter lock up, and better accuracy.

The 3913's checkered front strap is a nice addition too.

Nothing wrong with a 908, and I'd take a 908 over any M&P anyday, BUT the 3913 is a superior pistol to the 908 in construction and function. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI.

Correct. The ambi safety of the 3913/3914 is one of the additional bells & whistles you get, vice the single sided 908 safety/decocker. Regards 18DAI.

Wouldn't the 908 be more of a comparison to the 3913LS and NL with the angled frame dust cover? All had the single sided safety, where the conventional 3913 had the ambi-safety.

If I remember correctly, didn't the 900 series come out as a cheaper version of the 3900 after a few years of S&W making 3913/14s? Dave_n

I saw a 3913 LS in a local gun shop this week. I thought it was a 908 just like I was carrying...decocker/safety on left side only and flat black.

Once in my hand I noticed the 3913 model number and the upward slope on the bottom of the frame near the muzzle....plus it said Lady Smith.

Price was good but too similar to my 908 to spark any interest.

my 908, now with Trijicon night sights : )
