3913 accuracy question

Yes I searched, but didn't find anything specific and quantitative....

now I've been with 'Austrian-based' pistols several years...but I've stumbled upon a 3913 in my travels. It was there Monday before the storm hit, and haven't hit the shop again to check on it. I'm intrigued, and for $399 if I layaway or $380 OTD if I pay cash, I'm tempted by the glint of silver and something with a saftey! Shoot I might even let my M19 go the temptation seems great!

I read alot about the accuracy, but can anyone elaborate? the 5906 I had previously I wish I never sold was a really GREAT pistol...and it was very accurate. How does the 3913 compare?

I tried to search, and picked up some very useful info that I'm thinking of braving the ice to go there today in a couple of hours and stick her in layaway

I carry a 3913, and I shoot IDPA with it. Having said that... You won't win in the IDPA with it. In mine the ammo you shoot changes the accuracy quite a bit. Blazer? forget it. Winchester white box, it is alright, I think PMC white box shoots about the best that I have found. I reload for mine, my hand loads by far are the most accurate. I doubt it would be anywhere near as accurate as your old 5906. On the other hand I can carry in an OWB holster in a loose tee shirt and it disapears. If you are looking for accuracy I would get another 5906. If you want decent accuracy in a nice carry gun, well you just found what to carry!

I have 2 3954s and they shoot very well when I do my part. Certainly they're no worse than an the compact model of the Austrian pistol that shall remain nameless.

I've never shot mine from a rest, but have no problem keeping all my shots on a 3" target dot at 15 yards, offhand. What impresses me more about the 3913 is that I've never had a malfunction in firing more than 20,000 rounds through it. I can't say that about any other semi auto pistol I've owned, but I don't have any experience with the polymer guns like the Glock or M&P.

I have a 3914TSW (a black 3913 with a rail) and its very accurate for a gun of its size and weight. The POI will change depending upon what ammo is shot 115, 124 or 147 grain and the velocity. Having said that I have no trouble getting 10 shots into the black of an NRA 25 yard rapid fire target at 25 yards. At 10 yards 2"-3" groups are no problem.

Ditto on the comment about reliability. These guns will eat anything even when embarrassingly filthy.

I've owned several 3913 and 3913NL's over the years. They were 100% dependable and nice flat pistols, but I never owned one that was really that accurate........at least compared to the square black plastic guns

I might be mistaken, but I thought the 3913/14 was developed with the 147gr bullet in mind. Mind has always shot those much better than the inexpensive and available 115's

My 3913 shoots a shot gun pattern, probably a 4" spread at 15 yards using WWB.

I changed the grips out to Hogues and use 147 grain 9mm. With the Hogues the 3913 fits my hand as if it was made for it. Using quality 147 grain 9mm it does under 3" groups at 15 yards.

In my experience different S&W 3rd generation pistols - of the same model - will have a particular load they shoot more accurately with. You have to spend a little time and money to find out which load that is. Good luck! Regards 18DAI.

The 5906 I was looking at was still there, and I found a 6904 in a fair range...so still debating

There is a fellow on one of the local michigan gun boards that has a 3913 for sale with 2 mags for $400 bucks.I told him to post it the classified on this board,hope he will.coobie

My 3913 experience

It took me a little while to get used to my 3913, as I was more familiar with full frame pistols (M1911 and Beretta 92FS), but once I got familiar with the gun, it's more accurate than I am! It shoots my reloads just fine. That having been said, the nicest S&W 9mm auto I've ever fired is the S&W Model 59!

the 3913/3914 are great carry and have appropriate accuracy my 3914
is amazing with heavy weight subsonics.
