Hello all I'm new here. I have a 4506(plus many other non S@W guns) and just bought a mint 3913 for my CCW.
Can anyone tell me when it was made? Serial PEB05XX
Are there 2 different Magazines that fit or dont fit? I see a curved bottom and flat bottom and want to be sure to order the right extra mags
thanks

I can't help you on the date however you can get curved (finger extension) or flat bottom mags for the 3913. The only difference is the mag base plate.

I don't see a P prefix in the SCSW. Perhaps it is a T instead?
Recheck you serial and repost. The SCSW only goes to 2006 and they do not list anything with a P. Does the gun have any other identifiying markings or names.

maybe it is a T and not a P, if so do you know when it was made? I got the serial from my dealer. Gun is still at his shop since we have crappy laws in calif. I bought a Ruger single six hunter from buds gunshop( they shipped the wrong gun to my dealer friday and it has to go back monday so the right one can be shipped) and i cant buy more than one pistola month!!!. SO even tho i paid it will be more than a month before i get get the 3913. My dealer told me the serial on the phone so i could have heard him wrong.
thanks

OK

1988-1989 should be close enough. Is it the 3913 compact? Made from 1989 to 1999. They also made the 3913NL ,3913TSW Tactical, 3913TSW 9 Tactical and they even made the 3913LS LadySmith.

I think that they are all good and you will enjoy shooting your Smith&Wesson.

BTW welcome to the board from another Californian.

i think its a compact, it doesnt have any tactical markings and no rail(gladly) It was a retired CHP's gun he never used as a backup. I think it was in his safe more than anything. I know there were many on the gun auction sites but i like to see and feel a used gun before being disapointed. The bore is spotless and shiny and so is the gun. How do you tell the difference between the models?
thanks for the help.

The early 3913s' didn't have the lazer echings on the slide and no rails. The early TSW '98-99 had the shorter 7rd grip, lazer slide markings and no rail. The 2000-up went back to the 8rd grip and added the light rail. The LS & NL models have a sloped dust cover with no rail. If the gun comes with the original box and has the fired case with it they are dated right with their production date. If not you can call S&W customer service and they can tell you the exact production date off of the serial number.
