I once bought an unused police trade-in 5903 that had a 'yellowish' tint. Seems there was still a light coat of some sort of grease/oil on it that I assumed was applied at the factory, or perhaps applied by a police armorer before the pistol was put into storage. Regardless, a few minutes with a can of GunScrubber took off all the old gunk and she was nice and shiny.

I have seen this on Police trade in 6906s at a gun show. One vendor had a lot of them. I don't think it was grease. The frames had the yellowish tint. The guns would have looked great otherwise.

I have a 5903 that matches this description. It doesn't affect functionality, and I've seen this on other alloy frame Smiths. I don't know what would cause it, but it really doesn't affect how the gun shoots.

I talked to S&W today. The rep said they are aware that some aluminum frames in time may turn a yellowish color. Does not hinder functionality. He said it was normal
