3913 & mags find

Dropped by a local Pawn shop yesterday just checking out their inventory, looking for nothing particular, low in behold there was a nice 3913 crammed in the case surrounded by Glocks. I don't know why but 3913's are like an addiction that I can't seem to get over. I just cannot leave these in a shop once I see one. So after fondling it for a few minutes, I got him down to $375 from $425. Came with one pinky 8 shot mag, no case but a nice little holster. Owner said he had some other 3913 mags he'd sell for $15 each if I wanted them. I couldn't talk him out of sales tax, but long story short I walked out with the 3913, holster and 5 mags for $475. Not a smoking deal for sure, but always proud to own another one of these little gems. Anyhow, just sharing my good feelings, going to seek rehab if I don't stop buying these!
I believe these mags are original S&W mags, do you agree?

Very nice pick up. Those are definitely S&W factory mags. $15.00 each for them is a steal.

If you don't like the flat base version, PM me. I have some curved base plates and would be willing to do a trade.

What brand holster is that?

Either way, enjoy that great 3913.
 
Good question about the holster, I've been trying to figure out who made the holster myself. On the back side at the bottom it has a horseshoe stamped in the leather and the word "England" stamped below the shoe. At first I thought it was some cheap odd ball holster but after examining it, it seems very well made, nice little holster. I tried to buy the 3913 without the holster but the fellow insisted it was a package deal. Now, I'm kind of glad he won't separate them.

Nice find! Looking at the holster, I believe it was made for a 69 series pistol, judging by the hooked trigger guard molding, and the step in the frame. Maybe the 469/669 or early 6906/6904. You could probably sell it for a good price, since very few holsters are made these days for the hook guard pistols.
 
Geez Slufstuff, I believe you are correct. I had not even noticed the hooked guard and step moulding, you have a keen eye for the details!
 
Good catch!!!

I've got a business trip to the other end of the state next week and I've already identified the likely looking pawn shops and LGS's in the area to check out while I'm close.

I hope to have some luck and savvy like you.
 
Congratulations on the new 3913 package, and I'd say it's still a good deal at that price. You'd probably pay as much for one with only 1-2 mags off of Gunbroker, and then have wait for it to arrive as well. :)

Oh, and I would also agree that those are factory magazines. Have fun with your new 3913 razorbacker!

Nice score! Unfortunately in my area, the local pawn shops seem to use the most outrageous listings on GB as a pricing reference.

Yes, these pawn shops are really a roll of the dice on finding something nice at a reasonable price. I think this fellow is too high on most of his guns but I was in his shop 2 years ago and about tore my back pocket off buying a nice CZ 85 for $350 OTD. So you just never know, I drop in these shops once in a while just considering it free entertainment looking over their inventory.
 
There are very few pawn shops around here. Part of that might be that they are prohibited by law from loaning money on guns.

OTOH, my son lives in AL. There are a lot of pawn shops and most of them do sell guns. Whenever I visit we stop at a few just to see what they have. Prices range from reasonable to "Are you kidding me?" for essentially the same guns.

My son has bought a lot of very nice tools at pawn shops. I think that there are deals to be had but you have to do your homework and know what a reasonable price is for what you want to buy. That applies to guns, tools, jewelry, and anything else you are interested in.

In a way it's a good thing that pawn shops up here don't sell guns. I'd have far more guns and far less money.

pawn shops are akin to walking on a used car lot....timing is everything....the G21 he has under glass that he may ask $550 for.....he would be lucky to have half that in it....but just like used car lots you have to use your due diligence in inspecting what may interest you;).....deals are to be made....just be...as they say...persistant:D
 
I visited the site. Nice products, but a bit on the steep side. I also see a fine irony that such nice holsters are made in one of the most anti handgun countries on the planet. His IWB holsters remind me of the Bianchi Pistol Pocket. The IWB magazine holders are nice too. I have some made by Mika, but I'm not sure that they are IWB. I might have to dig those out and list them in the accessories for sale section here.

FWIW, I'm very happy with the F.I.S.T. IWB holster I carry my 3913 in.

Yeah, it's kind funny to see his gun model list, mostly all our American made guns he is crafting holster for but in anti-gun UK. I would guess most of his product is shipped to U.S. buyers. He sounds very knowledgeable, a lot of interesting info about holster design and fabrication on his web page. In FAQ I thought this was an interesting discussion about cowhide vs horsehide holsters.
