Today at the range, one of my 8 round 3913 mags would only load 7 rounds. The 7 rounds fed fine. It always took 8 rouns before. hen I got home to check it, one of the other ones did the same. After repeatedly unloading and loading, I got the 8th into both. The springs and folloers look fine. Any idea what caused it?

Just a guess but maybe some thing was in the mag and caused the spring to hang up. Could be that your mag needs a cleaning.

Nah. Not only was there nothing in there when I took it apart to see what was up, but I wipes the inside with Hoppes, dried it, and then sprapyed a light film of dry lube on the spring and the inside of the mag well. AFTER doing that, the other one started doing it. Only after repeated attempts, did the load all 8. Now they seem to be fine, but they're not loaded right now.

atmospheric inversion will some times cause that to happen. has to do with a cold air mass getting trapped on top of a hot air mass causing a differential metal expansion. jwr

I had that problem with a couple of 3913 mags. It was the two that went to the range most often. I disassembled them, and gave them a good scrub. No problems since. Good luck. Regards 18DAI.

1.) Are you using after market springs?

2.) What is probably happening is that the front top full loop of the magazine spring is catching on the bottom front of the magazine follower.

I'm a big supporter of Wolff springs, but I just sent some Wolff 3913 magazine springs back because the design of top of the spring (that comes into direct contact the the follower) is IMHO wrong (way too short) and allows No. 2 above to happen.

Also, make sure the bottom front of the follower is not dinged or damaged in any way that may help cause No. 2 above to occur.

Good luck,
