I'm looking to replace the front sight on my 3913NL with something that I can see with these old tired eyes. Ideally I'd like a fiber optic, but as this is my carry gun I'm leaning toward something less fragile. I've narrowed it down to a Meprolight front, however I can not find info on the dimensions. My current site is .125 wide x .125 high. I'm not too concerned with the with, although a little narrower would be good, but does any one know the height of the Meprolight for the 3900?

I suffered with the same problem on my 3913....installed the XS 24/7 Big Dot.with the tritium inserts....I couldn't be more pleased with the results it afforded me...but I can see where their may be a fitment issue if you have a snug fitting kydex holster....got mine from a site suggested by forum member TercGen...called Adorama...good luck;)

Meprolight's website says it uses the most common sight height between all the models it covers, which is all 9's and 40's in 3rd Gen! You could contact them and ask for specific dimensions to see if it may work. Another forum member here (Gary S) reports that this Meprolight sight set (front&rear) shoots a few inches low out of his 3913.

I have personally used a Trijicon SA08 front sight (.138") and factory rear sight on a 3914, and it shot to POA (https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=SA08). The SA24 front sight is actually closer at .123" (https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=SA24), but for defensive purposes I think either one will do fine.

For old eyes though, I think the XS Big Dots are the best way to go, hands down. Like nocents mentioned, the sight height will be a little bit higher and may be a tighter fit in 3913 kydex holsters, but the sight picture and target acquisition are the fastest and easiest to use. I have the XS standard dots on a 39xx gun and am very happy with them. Adorama will have the best price on these sights, and they are current production as well (2014-2015): XS Sight 24/7 Big Dot Tritium Express Set for Chief Special 9mm Handguns SW-0003P-5
