Which models other than a 3913/3914 would be a candidate for a source for a single sided safety, to swap into a 3913?

Maybe a CS9? The black model only had a single sided safety. The 3913 Lady Smith did too. Don't know why it wasn't offered standard across the board. Taking out the safety is easy enough. Swapping it would be a breeze.

908, 910, 915. If you can find one, but you might have to buy and entire slide.

Some people have had luck with 2nd Gen safeties as well.

Numrich has some of the 469 which should work.

A single safety certainly sleekd up the slide of my 3913.
I swapped the single safety from my 410s. Works great.

I can't find ANY SAFETY from Numrich's which is single sided.
I would love to know of any alternate suppliers.

ETA: One labor intensive option would be to get a double safety base, mill the base flat with the slide, tap the spring hole, and plug the hole with a headless screw.
Labor intensive.

For what a 1/4 inch.... at one small spot............... WHY bother?

I wouldn't go as far as milling parts off, but I've always hated double sided safeties and see no purpose for them. I hate them on my M&P's and would love a single sided version. With all the other after market nonsense out there, I can't believe they're not available. I'd replace the double sided with single sided on every gun I own if I could.

I have a 669 safety body on my CS9. It was formerly on my 3913 for a short time.

Right side safety

Bought a 659 missing the right side safety lever. First style that was held in place with a screw. Trip to Lowes, lots of time with very rudimentary tools and this is what I ended up with. Ok for now.

What I did with my 6906 was take the lever off the right side, cut it to the size of the round part of the safety and sanded it to match the shape of the safety. It isn't a huge change but, it does make a difference.

Going back over 20 years ago, when I first bought my CS9, it came with a single side safety. As I prefer ambi safety because my qual course included shooting with off hand, I had contacted S&W and they sent me the parts to make the safety ambi, which as I recall was simple. I know things change over time, and factory new parts probably no longer available, but it still might be worth a call to S&W to see if they can help you with the pieces for conversion to single side safety as you prefer, never know, you could luck out and someone back at the mother ship might know where a few parts are stashed away in a drawer somewhere.

Tom 45- I like your MACV insignia, brings back memories, I was attached to that group out of Saigon '69 to '70. Looks like you were there in '64, a few years before me. Thanks for softening up the bad guys before I got there :)

I think a single sided safety is the bee's knees. But then, I also like a spur hammer, since I was taught (with a Walther P1) to use the safety while easing the hammer down with a thumb. Although I know it ain't necessary with a well designed pistol, I feel happier doing it the way I learned.

Well, I've trying to find a single sided safety for my 3913 and thinking how it needs a little something to make it special.
No luck in the for sale section or on the big auction site. Racking my brain trying to come up with something just a little different.
It needed a single sided safety, lower profile slide stop, lose the bobbed hammer, lower profile mag base and maybe some pizazz.
And then it hit like a bolt out of the blue!
I had all of those things at my fingertips!
Well, almost all of it.
So here is my new twist on a 3913.
Single side safety, check.
Lower profile slide stop, check.
Full size hammer, check
Some pizzaz, double check.
Lower profile mag base, in the works.

Probably very hard to find too! Leaning towards the Kahr base mod for better availability.

S&W made a lower profile magazine - the 7rd concealment magazine.

Add some Hogue checkered wood grips for bling and a better grip!

7rd factory mag is primary in my IWB EDConcealed carry 3913NL (16 rds) ..... but I use a 8rd with the flat plastic floor plate in my 3913 with full hammer and Hogue wood grips for casual OWB concealed carry(25rds).

Been carrying some version of the 3913/3913NL/3914 for 33 years now!!!!!

Labor intensive.

Then bead blast it to match the slide.
