I understand there was a blue (black) LadySmith 3914LS made 2 years only (1990-91?) SKU 103920 and a Silver 3913LS made in 2 variations 1990-91 SKU 103918 and 1992-2006 (?) SKU 108290. I am also aware of the 3913NL and 3914NL pistols.

First Question - What were differences between 1990-91 3913LS vs 1992-Up 3913LS?

Second Question - Was there ever a dark version (Blued or black) of the 3913LS?

I almost bought a Dark 3913LS thinking it must be one of the much rarer 3914LS - but on looking more closely it was marked 3913LS THA00xx - Cerakote or Real from Factory?

Thanks for attention, Ed

I've never seen a 3914LS. Unless it was a big mistake in the factory, there wouldn't be a black 3913 of any variation (meaning LS or otherwise). I'd guess it was refinished.

I have seen a 3914 LS - made 1 or 2 years - very nice piece, but mostly out of my price range.

Listing did not say 3913 or 3914 - just Lady Smith 9mm - and started at lower level. But there was a good picture of Model & Serial Numbers. Refinish was my fear - when I realized, I stopped bidding - not that a 3913LS would not be a great gun, just I dont like things that have been changed in a way that they are not what they seem.

No black 3913 from the factory...that's the role of the 3914 be it a LS or otherwise. While I'm no expert on the matter and we have seen strange things come out of S&W over the years I would none the less wager a pretty fair amount that the blue/black 3913LS has been refinished. If Smith incorrectly stamped a 3914 it likely wouldn't have been just one. JMHO.

Factory and I have a Jenks letter to prove it. Apparently it was a small order through Sports South out of Shreveport, probably an LE agency. Note the 3914 slide instead of the angled 3414LS/NL slide. Apparently this was done a year before the official 3914LS/NL run.

I also have this little spicy number in 40 S&W. I do not have a factory letter for it, but the serial number is in the range of a letter that I have seen of a run made for the Colorado State Patrol and may be part of the overrun not sent to the agency. While there may not have been a large commercial run of a handgun, 3rd gens were basically a free for all. You'd be surprised by the small numbers of factory frankenguns out there.
