Purchased a 3914 from Gun Joker / Lock Stock and Barrel Auctions here in CA this week. SEE pic. LNIB with 4 mags; 1 brand new. IMO shows possible 50 rds +/- fired. Truly amazing condition in person. The other 3 mags may have been used 1-2x's each if that. No Box.

Been looking for years here in CA for this model to carry. Use one of my 6906/04's but wanted a single stack. Do have 2 BNIB 3913LS's -1990 and 2000 - but don't want to use them.

Looking for assistance with the Date of Manufacture. Uncle Google was no help at all.

Serial THE77xx

For those interested I paid:
$625.00 for the pistol thru auction
$45.31 CA Sales Tax
$6.25 Gun Joker Service Sales Tax Compliance Fee
$37.19 CA DROS
***$68.75 Governor Guberson FU Dave 11% Sin Tax***
TOTAL of $782.50

Lucky I'm Rich?! ...or Buy Once Cry Once.

Thank you in advance for the help. Best, Dave

Nice LNIB 3914!

What is the Spec Ord number on the label? That will tell you the date you seek... ex: 3232 would be the third year ('93) and 232 the two hundred thirty second day of that year - August 19, 1993.

I checked my SCSW 4th Ed and couldn't find any SN starting with a THE.

As stated NO BOX.

"THE" Prefix right on the pistol. Exactly as on my DROS.

Not a Rookie and understand SPEC ORDER # on the label.

If you email customer service with the serial number they can tell you the manufacture month and year. Depending on the gun and how eager the CS rep that answers your email is, you may get other information as well.

I did this for a 5946 I bought used a month ago. I got the information and also asked for a recoil spring. They actually sent three.

Nice pistol. Is the rear sight stock?

I'm in California too, I've been looking for a 391X for about ten years; no luck so far.

Best Bet THE prefix 1991, but as suggested, best to email [email protected] with model and full s/n and ask for Manufacture date and 6 digit Product Code.
I ask for product Code because sometimes you stumble on an odd Special Product Code that may indicate an odd pedigree.
Depending on luck of the draw, you may get only year date and no product code or you may get month, day, and year plus Product Code.
As to trying to date with just the 3 letter alpha prefix, that is not completely reliable. There are multiple examples I have observed where the same prefix exists in multiple years.
As an extreme, I have 5946 VJP356x dated by SW as 5/2009 and 6946 VJP358x dated by SW as 1/1998.

Thank you all for the input. I was waiting patiently for Monday to contact S&W to be sure but thought to throw it out to the crew.

I "guessed" with my limited brain bandwidth; 1991 also.

TST that is the stock rear sight. I have empathy for you brotha as we are prisoners here in CA.

I did escape for a couple years to Scottsdale during the ScamDemic thinking i was retired?! Our son and my young partner had a different plan for me:D.

What a crock of poo CA has become and will simply keep getting worse IMO. Oh Well...
