If the trigger is squeezed v-e-r-y slowly it will fire...but otherwise I get the dreaded "click"! No strike to the primer. I'm thinking firing pin block problem but need some expertise. I disassembled the slide and the pin and spring look fine.

This is a newly acquired gun by my son-in-law and this is probably the reason is was traded in at the LGS.

I'd lube the suspect area thoroughly with Remoil or CLP , and try a new hammer spring . Gunsprings.com is a good place to start. You could even have a cracked firing pin, but it's too early to worry about that, in the process.

When you pull the trigger normally, & it clicks, is the hammer cycling back normally or does it seem like the trigger-hammer sear teeth are releasing too soon & it's being pulled back fully? Have you cleaned it's internals &/or removed the grips to see what's (not) happening? What makes you think the problem is in the slide vs. the frame?

For starters, I'd probably pull the firing pin out and check. Also check the firing pin block that requires the trigger be pulled. Think it's the plunger on the left. The other is the magazine plunged.

The hammer is cycling in what appears to be normal motion although I can't speak to the timing at this point. I thought about the firing pin block in the slide due to the fact that the hammer is striking but there is no mark on the primer, leading me to think the firing pin block is perhaps blocking the pin from striking the primer. Grip removed and pistol cleaned. I will dig deeper tonight to see what I can see but since I have no real experience in this I was fishing here for some direction as to what to look for first.

Firing pin and spring pulled and checked...looked fine. Plunger seems to work normally at least to the extent that it plunges and returns by hand. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Completely disassembled the frame...could find no cracks and the draw bar looks fine as well. As I cycle and watch the sear is supposed to release the hammer to strike the firing pin. Then after the slide cycles the sear catches the hammer in a position short of the firing pin in a sort of ready or half cocked position (to avoid full auto firing I suppose). What is happening is when the trigger is pulled too fast (not ripping it...just not slow) the sear catches the hammer in the ready position and doesn't allow it to fall to the firing pin...squeeze slowly and it fires.

I can't find anything that looks wrong. I took my 3913 down just to have something to compare to...nothing obvious.

Suggestions anyone?

Is the drawbar spring and plunger pushing the rear of the drawbar securely up against the hammer and pulling the sear forward and clear of the hammer notches?
You can see this with the slide off and the magazine out while you pull the trigger.
