3inch 625

I saw at the lgs I found my 49 at, A 3inch 625 45acp revolver model of 1989 it is in new condition. asking price is $1350 but they will come down. if I had the money it would go great with my 5incher.is that not how it goes.lay one away and find another great gun.but I feel that is a high price.

They are pretty rare revolvers and a hoot to shoot. Fantastic caliber too, especially if you reload. When you do see them they are around a grand except for the lucky men here on the forum who find the occasional great deal. Mines costing $1100.00 but I wouldn't pay $1300.00 for one. Shot the same model with the full underlug and it is very accurate and recoil is softer than a 1911. Reloads are super fast with the moon clips also. Just had to have it after I asked the same question here last week.

That is pretty steep even if you found one still brand new untouched and sealed in the box... But then again, I have seen stranger pricing on other "deals" so I guess it depends how much they are willing to come down. I'm begining to think I had a big "right place at the right time" thing going when I found mine a while back. The funny part is I thought it was priced low since it didn't exhibit the level of fit and finish that I expected. But I guess that is normal on these guns. Mine is a 625-3 which seems to be an older model. The Rimz clips I bought all had to be modified for proper fit with mine. The steel clips work just fine though. I guess just be aware there was some kind of revision that these went through at some point. Someone more versed in their inner workings will have to explain that further though. i agree. one, w. box, recently sold for $875 on GB. but it had been listed for several weeks at that buy now price before it sold.
there is one dreamer listing his used 3" 625 for $2300. if some fool actually takes the bait, i will sell every gun i own at triple price on GB and retire.

I am sorely tempted to try and sell mine for a slightly inflated price tag to fund my purchase of one 325 Thunder Ranch Edition... Not sure if I would regret parting with it though. Yes, I am, I know I would regret it and cry myself to sleep...

I think the price is way to much. I found this 625-3 at a small gun show for $550. I would keep looking.

Yeah - what others have said. Keep looking. They are out there for way less than north of 1K.

I paid 1k for mine, I think that is about the top of the reasonable market. replaced the grips with a set of Nills

I over paid for mine at $800 but 6 months later who cares. I still have the gun and love it. The price that the OP quoted is way high but I wouldn't hold out to get one for $500 either.

I actually have one im trying to sell. I listed it on armslist for 1200. If I get it great, not in any big rush.

I gave $625 for this one about a year ago FTF here in NC. It's got a pretty good turn line, and some minor scuffs. No way on this planet would I pay over $1K for one of these (and believe me, it's my favorite 625), but I guess it's a matter of priorities and how much cash you have to play with.

If I needed/wanted another one, before I'd spend $1K or more, I'd buy a much more common used, pre-lock 5" 625, and have a competent gunsmith cut it down as far as possible, and install a ramp sight. You may not get all the way down to 3" with the full-length ejector rod of a 5" gun, but you'll get pretty close. Then bead blast the etched writing off the barrel with 5 minutes work and it will look great. Sure, it won't have "collector" value, but so what?

I would strongly agree.

The problem IMHO, is that there has been a bit of a 3" bbl N frame, internet induced frenzy going on for a while, & the sellers are catching on.

Seems the higher they mark 'em up, the more frenzied buyers get. Kinda' like the Black Friday sale (except w/ high prices) at Target, or running w/ the bulls in Spain.

The ironic thing is, that there is no guarranty it will shoot any kind of reasonable groups. A lot of older guns get "smithed" by Bubba, & many older parts are no longer available from S&W.

I'd like to have one myself, but in this economy you've gotta draw the line someplace.

I bought one in California (box and moon clips included) for $750 a couple of months ago, excellent condition. It had been offered at $900. My LGS has another one now (or did a few days ago) offered at $950. I don't know if it has box and accessories. The consignor sets the price, not the store, but I thought these recent numbers might add to the discussion.

I think it's way too high, especially if you are looking at a shooter. I've always preferred to stay under 700 or 800 simply because of my personal budget and the pricing in my area. YMMV.
