I was at a local match last night and I was talking to a guy between strings. He said he is a forum member but I failed to get his forum ID. He had a 3rd gen 40 with a 5" barrel. He said it was originally 2 tone but it has been coated and is all black now. I really liked it but I forgot to get the model number. I can't find a 5" 40 3rd gen in the Standard Catalog of S&W. It has the slide decocker\safety and d\a s\a trigger. Help me out here what model 3rd gen had a 5" barrel. I have been looking for a 3rd gen in 40 and I would love a 5" but I never knew they existed until last night.

If I remember right there was a small, 3000?? 5000?? run of 4006s with 5" barrel/slide. Lew Horten comes to mind but don't quote me on that.

Thanks Tom I don't know why but I couldn't find it in the SC of S&W. I will have to keep a look out for one. I love 5" guns.

Found it under PC guns. I didn't think to look there.

All the 5" 4000 series based guns were from the Performance Center. I doubt you could come up with more than 1500 counting all the variations, SA/TDA/comped/two-tone/etc. I had the 40 Limited, SA with BoMar style sights and all stainless, looked a lot like the 845.
