3rd Gen .45 advice

The third gen Smith 45's are all quality. accurate firearms and fun to shoot. Easily differentiated from the 1911 experience by the weight of the gun and other features. I have a few 45ACP 1911's and shoot the 4506 more.

The 4516 versions are all steel, very well constructed and -1 and beyond iterations are highly dependable. Price for these models seem to have come down a bit recently.

All of the Third Gen DAO models are great....

My go-to version(s) are a pair of M4586's, shot one of them yesterday up in the hills, never get tired of hefting these solid autos....

Here's a pic of the three M45xx DAO models.

Enjoy......

There's been a used 457 in my LGS now for over a year. It comes with the box and spare mag. Price has never moved at $450. It's not been abused. Looks kind of blocky to me, I know it's the budget style. Am I missing something or is that the going price nowadays? Wish I had the money for an 845 but...........

To me $450 sounds OK to possibly on the low side today for a nice 457, especially in good condition with original box and spare SW mag. (Note the correct 457 mags are the late 7 rd with black follower.) If you bought it off GB, you would probably pay roughly that without original box plus GB fee and $50 shipping.

Thank you!! But rats, now I need to go back and look it over real well. My wife was hoping the answer would be more towards the $450 being outrageously high. lol Now, if it was an 845 for that......

If it’s been in the case for a year. I’d offer $400 and it would probably leave with you.

I have a 645 from the 1st run, fixed sights and fun to shoot. I’m amazed that it will cycle a magazine full of empty brass racking the slide by hand. I recently thought it would be fun to acquire a 4506 but after reading the posts from the enablers on this forum I set my sights on a 945. First i had to decide on which variant I wanted, then wait. I found one last year, And like Sevens (Enabler) & GaryS (Enabler) said they aren’t cheap. I found one the seller said he bought in a large collection and he didn’t think it had been shot. I believe it.
What a fantastic pistol that is, I like Kimbers and Gold Cups too but WOW with the 945.
