Nice 4506-1[emoji106]

I've limited myself to the 9mm family, but a 10mm is calling my name.

I've also been consolidating what calibers I have.
But everyone needs a BIG STEEL 45.

I picked up a police trade in today...a model 4053 dao....1 mag @ $214 otd...need to find some mags....Btw, I may have a nice black basket weave holster that fits a 4506 if you are interested.... cheers, Mike

Grumpy Old man alert, I'll probably annoy the 'Plastic Low Bore Axis" cultists, but IMHO 3rd Gens are the last relevant pistols S&W made. 3rd Gen S&W's are awesome, awesome guns, can't go wrong with them, especially if you can find an ex-LEO version that has the mag safety disconnect, the only ugly flaw in their entire design.

I've shot M&P's and, I'm sorry, but they're junk. My agency issued them to an academy recently, they couldn't even make it through 3 weeks of recruit shooting. No thanks. And since I don't like Glock, why would I want a cut-rate pseudo Glock? Doesn't appeal to me.

Now, I know the entire shooting world has swallowed the polymer striker fired Kool-Aid, and the current doctrine flowing from 'gun rag' mags and Internet 'Experts' clearly preaches that you can't achieve 12th Level Black belt in backyard ballistic gelatin assassin, and you'll certainly fail to 'Level Up' as wannabe video game operator if you don't carry some black plastic 18 round, Picatinny-railed Tupperware, but I'm pretty confident that 50+ years of steel and alloy guns aren't suddenly rendered obsolete because "the LAV' or the Guns & Ammo Tactical Annual says so.

Personally, I'll take a nice 4506, 1006 or even a 3906 loaded with very hot 9mm (since no 3rd Gen ever came in .357Sig) over any polymer crunchentickers, don't care who makes it.

Just one crotchety old Irishman's opinion, YMMV....

You are a lucky man! I'm predicting your 4506-1 will soon become your favorite gun. I know mine has.

TesasRaider: Awesome rant! We know where you stand and I think most of us here are right there with you.

Can't argue with that, here's my anti. I did a little custom work on mine, added the spur hammer last - 1066

With all due respect...a 4506 is a crunhenticker. Moreso than a striker-fired pistol, anyway. Other than that, I'm with you!

@85V65Sabre,

LOL! Wish I had a handy pic of my own 4506 to add to this growing "Very Cool Dude" list...

Maybe I oughta start a Top Gear style "Cool Wall" with pics of that wonderful tank that is the 4506; they'd definitely be on the 'Sub Zero' side of the wall, along with some of its brothers like the 1006, 1076, 5904, 3906, 4505, 4026 and the rare, cool little hot rod 6944; I'm sure many more would qualify.

Oh and sorry, but all Glocks simply must be posted on the 'Seriously Uncool' side of the wall. They may be great, reliable shooters, but they have the style of an Acme building brick spray painted with flat black VHT Engine Enamel.

Very well said TexasRaider! I agree strongly. Having carried the 4506-1 on duty for many years please submit my name for inclusion on "the list". Regards 18DAI

I feel a "cool dude" thread about to happen!

18DAI, you as many others are "VERY COOL DUDES" because of your service.
Carrying a 4506-1 while doing it puts you in the SUB-ZERO category.[emoji106]
